PBS Reveals The Secrets of the Dead

I know I don’t normally talk about documentaries on here, but I watched this really cool vampire documentary sponsored by PBS on dvd this week and wanted to share it with you. Secrets of the Dead is a documentary series that started airing on PBS in 2000. There are different episodes with different themes, but the one I watch was called Vampire Legend. Deathgasm: The Band, The Movie, The Demon Summoners

I found an interesting little horror movie at work this week called Deathgasm and I mean with a title like that I couldn’t not watch it. I scooped it up and watched it super late in the night. The movie was made and set in New Zealand, and made me really want to rewatch What We Do in the Shadows, but this is an entirely different review. The Intern Review

The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, comes out on blu-ray and dvd on Tuesday and I thought I’d give it a quick review for you guys. The preview I saw for it looked funny, but when it was in theaters the one near me didn’t have it for very long and I missed out on being able to see it until much later. If you want something heartwarming and cute to watch then definitely check out the rest of this review. Continue reading “The Intern Review”

The Real Villain of Daredevil

I’ve been live tweeting Daredevil for a few weeks with one of the other writers of The Nerdy Girl Express, Erica, and Jonathan White, who we interviewed a while back during our iZombie themed interview series. We have been watching episodes sporadically,  mostly because my work schedule has a tendency to throw a wrench in things. Now I really wanted to watch this show because I knew that Vincent D’Onofrio was playing the villain, Fisk. Well, the more we watch the show the more I realize I’m more afraid of a different character. Continue reading “The Real Villain of Daredevil”

Final Stay at the Hotel Cortez

This is my final AHS Hotel review and I’m pretty sad to see this show go. I’ve really enjoyed this season, even if I did have some issues with some plot things. Overall though I really have been enjoying myself on Wednesday nights. Congrats to Lady Gaga on her Golden Globe! Now let’s get to the review, I’m writing it as I watch the show, just fyi. The Martian Review: Since it Won Best Comedy

Okay, so I would have written this review even if The Martian hadn’t won anything at the Golden Globes, but it made for a more interesting title. I wasn’t able to watch The Martian in theaters. I don’t even remember a theater near me getting it, but maybe I just missed it. I had a friend who loved the book, he’s a biologist and while not a botanist, he was super excited by the whole farming on Mars aspect, but he had told me the main character was pretty funny so he hoped the movie would be funny. Now that being said the movie does have funny moments, Matt Damon as Mark is pretty good at bringing the humor, but I honestly don’t think this is a comedy. Sci-fi drama, sure, but a straight up comedy, I don’t think so. Continue reading “The Martian Review: Since it Won Best Comedy”

A Trip to Suburbia in my Suburbanite Review

Have you ever watched a movie and not known exactly what to make of it? That happened to me this weekend when I watched the movie Suburbanite. I hadn’t heard of the movie until I saw a preview for it at work, sometimes working at a video store leads to some very unexpected finds. It seemed like an interesting thriller so I grabbed it. Once I started watching it the movie really wasn’t what I expected. I can’t really review it without getting spoilery so let’s get to it. Continue reading “A Trip to Suburbia in my Suburbanite Review”
