While this topic might seem sensational Beck’s work looks at how taking pole dancing classes has impacted the lives of a diverse group of women. The Unafraid Movie Review from @kleffnotes

The Unafraid focuses on the lives of three young adults living in Georgia who are in the United States under DACA status. For those who are not familiar with the meaning of the term DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Within this policy some people who were brought to the United States illegally as children are able to receive a two year deferment from deportation and can become eligible for a work permit. This term has been in the news a great deal, but The Unafraid began filming back in 2014. Spanning roughly three years, from the Summer of 2014 to the Fall of 2016, this film provides a detailed look into the lives of three undocumented families and their DACA children. The Cleaners Movie Review from @kleffnotes

The Cleaners is a provocative documentary that will be screening at the 29th Human Rights Watch Film Festival in New York City. While this film is not part of the opening night events, I was given the opportunity to view it in advance. Directed by Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck, The Cleaners explores social media moderating, with a focus on Google and Facebook. This film explores just who is placed in charge of moderating worldwide content and how deleting or ignoring certain content can alter the national dialogue and events throughout the world. Bridget and Iain Short Film Review from @kleffnotes

Bridget and Iain is a short film that is led by a diverse and international female filmmaking team and screened earlier this week in Cannes as part of the Beyond Borders: Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase and at the Cannes Global Women of Color in Film Day. It also was part of The Cannes Court Mètrage Short Film Corner. Produced by Diana C. Zollicoffer, who was nominated for an NAACP Theater Award for her play “innocentFLESH” and was one of the first women of color to direct the Australian Theater Company, this film focuses on Bridget and her adult son Iain on the shifts in their relationship in connection to his drug addiction. Set in a 17th Century English village, Blood on Satan’s Claw originally appeared as a feature film in the 1970’s and has recently been adapted into an audio drama for Audible by Mark Morris. When a farmer unexpectedly unearths a frightening skeletal head from his field strange happens begin to take place. This frightening story grows ever darker as the horrors happening in the village continue to infect more and more villagers. Interview with Paul McGillion from @erinwise82

Paul McGillion is a face you probably recognize from an array of television shows and movies. His talent as no end, having the uncanny ability to completely emerse himself into a role so profoundly, that the audience cannot help but be drawn into his character and onscreen presence.

Starring in the fresh new dance movie called “Heartbeats”, he plays the father of a talented young dancer, trying to follow her dreams. I was given the opportunity to chat with Paul about this role and some of his experiences playing it. It was a great experience learning his take of the film.

Paul has also grabbed a part in movie “Midnight Run”, starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger, coming soon. That didn’t stop this dedicated man from being cast in a recurring role on CW’s “The Flash”, as well a snagging a part in the third season of “Frontier”.
