Good Neighbors, Bad Times Revisited: New Echoes of My Father’s German Village Book Review from @kleffnotes

Good Neighbors, Bad Times was a memoir released by Mimi Schwartz in 2008 and she had not expected to delve back into her father’s story and the German village she had written about. Ten years later though she would be contacted by a man named Max Sayer, an 89 year old man in South Australia, who shared his story with her. He had grown up Catholic in the same village during the Third Reich. This led Schwartz to have a changed of perspective on the topic of being a neighbor in times of hate. This newly created book weaves excerpts from Sayer’s memoir and hers, which creates a different sort of story.

A Tale of Two Blue Milks from @kleffnotes

With zero trips to Galaxy’s Edge under our belts, Krista and I don’t really have a basis for comparing Blue Milks to something in Batuu. While we haven’t had that experience yet there have been so many people trying out recipes at home. This was sort of a bigger thing during the early days of quarantine, but recently with our Star Wars marathon I have wanted to give it a try. The two recipes I found are both Disney shared, but are very different from each other and let me tell you they were not what I expected at all.

Chyler Leigh?!: Girls Club and the Lost Lines of Chyler Leigh from @kleffnotes

Did you know Chyler Leigh was in a legal drama in 2002? I have a feeling almost no one knows this happened, but yes in 2002 she was one of the three lead characters in Girls Club. The series was very short lived and was cancelled after just two episodes, but the first episode still exists on YouTube. Normally I wouldn’t direct you to what is a very low quality video that appears to have been recorded with a VHS tape, but Girls Club exists nowhere else that I can find on the internet and with the early cancellation it appears that only the very first episode was ever saved by the magic of the internet.

A Night at the Dreslen Book Review from @kleffnotes

Stephanie McBain is a screenwriter and director who you might recognize from the holiday movies A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane or Hashtag Blessed. When 2020 was leading to shut downs throughout the industry she was concerned that she might not be able to shoot anything and decided to try something new. McBain took a previously unproduced script and reverse engineered it into a YA Novella.

The Ladylorians Show is Like Chatting With Your Star Wars Loving Friends from @kleffnotes

Six friends from five different states are at the helm of The Ladylorians Show, which is both a podcast and a YouTube show. Much like previous Star Wars podcast content I have mentioned this podcast posts on YouTube and there are perks to watching the visuals, but they also have an audio version available wherever you listen to podcasts. Shot in a Zoom call format a varying collection of the core six appear to discuss different aspects of the Star Wars franchise.

My Love: An LGBTQ+ Short Review from @kleffnotes

From the writer of the fantastic sci-fi series, Passage, Hillary Esquina recently debuted a Valentine’s Day short. My Love stars Mandahla Rose (BIFL, All About E) and Sarah Durham (Marry Christmas) as Kay and Rose. Directed by Christie Conochalla (Forever Not Maybe) and Jessica Harcourt this short falls in under the five minute mark, but even though it may be short it is full of romance.

Reasons for Delays in Our Star Wars Marathon from @kleffnotes

I thought I would share some of the reasons behind out Star Wars marathon delay. Krista and I had planned to focus solely on Star Wars in January and we then realized into February because there is just so much to watch. We were going strong when we made it through the Prequels and Clone Wars, but wound up stalling at Solo. We both love Solo and there is a reason this one keeps getting pushed out, which means the whole marathon gets pushed.
