Okay, so I would have written this review even if The Martian hadn’t won anything at the Golden Globes, but it made for a more interesting title. I wasn’t able to watch The Martian in theaters. I don’t even remember a theater near me getting it, but maybe I just missed it. I had a friend who loved the book, he’s a biologist and while not a botanist, he was super excited by the whole farming on Mars aspect, but he had told me the main character was pretty funny so he hoped the movie would be funny. Now that being said the movie does have funny moments, Matt Damon as Mark is pretty good at bringing the humor, but I honestly don’t think this is a comedy. Sci-fi drama, sure, but a straight up comedy, I don’t think so. Continue reading “The Martian Review: Since it Won Best Comedy”
While The Nerdy Girl Express usually only watches movies and television shows, I decided to watch the start of awards season. It was a hard and tedious task and I only fell asleep twice. I swear. Have you ever watched a movie and not known exactly what to make of it? That happened to me this weekend when I watched the movie Suburbanite. I hadn’t heard of the movie until I saw a preview for it at work, sometimes working at a video store leads to some very unexpected finds. It seemed like an interesting thriller so I grabbed it. Once I started watching it the movie really wasn’t what I expected. I can’t really review it without getting spoilery so let’s get to it. Continue reading “A Trip to Suburbia in my Suburbanite Review”
When I first heard about the movie Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse I honestly thought it sounded like the sort of thing I would have picked up when I was was still in Girl Scouts. Since I was a scout I thought I definitely had to watch it, just to see how my scouting skills would be able to help me in the event of zombie hoarding. Grab your thin mints and your sleeping bags and snuggle in for a review of Scouts Guide. Continue reading “Earn Your Reviewing Merit Badge with Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse”

I had the pleasure and surprise to watch the movie Trainwreck a while ago when a friend had rented it from the RedBox. We knew it was an off color, raunchy comedy and that it had funny lady Amy Schumer and wrestler/sometimes actor John Cena in it. Within the first thirty minutes I thought for sure that I would wet my pants from laughing so hard. Keep reading to see my review! Continue reading “Stop Everything and Go Watch Trainwreck”
I honestly had never heard of the movie L.A. Slasher until I saw it at work, video stores can be very useful for finding random things you never knew you wanted to see. The movie revolves around social media, mostly Twitter, and on people obsessed with fame. My review has all the details, don’t worry I won’t spoil it for you. Continue reading “Reviewing the Work of the#LASlasher”
