As part of CBS Dream Team, The Inspectors is back for an all new season of entertaining, educational and informative television.
Harriett Davison (Blythe Howard) puts on her makeup. Suddenly it burns her skin. She talks with postal inspectors Mitch (Terry Serpico) and Amanda (Jessica Lundy), who explains how counterfeit makeup is a huge business so it’s important to know what’s in your cosmetics before using it. Amanda says they’ll have their expert (Georgia) run tests.
Noah (Harrison Knight) talks with his Aunt Shona on the phone. She wants him to house sit for her for the weekend. He convinces Preston (Bret Green) and Veronica (Erica Marie Sanchez) to house sit with him. His friends aren’t sure whether it’s a good idea but agree.
Georgia (Charmin Lee) tells Amanda and Preston that the results of the makeup tests shows trace amounts of mercury and lead but significant amounts of sodium hydroxide. “Sodium hydroxide that doesn’t sound good…you sure?” Amanda asked. “I’m not a big face lotion guy but this looks pretty legit to me,” Preston commented. Amanda reminded her son that with the slicker packaging the knockoffs often look like the real thing. Georgia added that they are usually produced in unsanitary conditions. “Which means cross contamination can occur,” Preston said. Mitch tells them about makeup being made it Beijing and wonder if there’s a connection with their case.
At the Residence of Aunt Shona in Arlington Virginia, Noah (Harrison Knight) was enjoying the perks of house sitting for his aunt in particular her massage chair, putting it all the way up to level seven for maximum comfort. But Veronica (Erica Marie Sanchez) commented on the hefty list of rules. One was to eat all meals over the sink. Veronica continued going over Aunt Shona’s list of rules. “Don’t have people over. Don’t use the massage chair.” That was Noah’s cue to turn the massage chair’s volume up even higher to level ten. “Did you even read the rules?” Preston asked Noah.
A neighbor arrives and tells Noah, Preston and Veronica there’s a rule that the settings shouldn’t go about five because it rattles the pictures on his wall. Another man, Chet (Chip Smith) arrives about renting a room from Aunt Shona.
Blank Canvas Cosmetic Corporate Headquarters in Chevy Chase Maryland. Mitch and Amanda meet with Betty Blank (Kathleen Hogan), the CEO. They explain about the cosmetic knockoffs. She gives a press conference. Afterwards, Amanda then tells her about the plan to catch the person making the knockoffs.
It turns Chet wasn’t there to rent a room but to rob the place. He ties up Noah, Preston and Amanda. He then goes to the mirror and looks at his dry skin. This gives Preston an idea. Wainwright suggests Chet try some of the counterfeit face lotion. And when Chet sits in the massage chair, Noah suggests he crank the settings up to ten. This alerts the neighbor who complained earlier but this time the man arrives with the police. Noah, Preston and Veronica display their bound hands and point to the robber sitting in the massage chair.
At Blank Canvas Cosmetics Shipping and Receiving, Mitch and Amanda arrest the perpetrator substituting the counterfeit cosmetics.
At University Grind, Noah, Preston and Veronica see a news report about the Jamestown University students that help to stop a robbery. Noah didn’t think the odds of his Aunt Shona seeing the report were very high. But he was wrong and Aunt Shona calls him to give her nephew an earful.
Amanda is relieved Preston wasn’t hurt when he helped catch the apartment robber and tells him he has good instincts he should always trust but also urges him to be cautious.
