Due to the Thanksgiving holiday last week which saw a classic episode from 2000 re-aired on Thanksgiving Day and Friday football, General Hospital returns with new episodes beginning Monday, November 26.

The big Port Charles event is the wedding of Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Jordan (Briana Henry) Ashford.

The road to the altar for this couple hasn’t been an easy one both on-screen and off.  Jordan was married to Thomas Ashford, who happened to be Curtis’ brother. During the marriage, she had an affair with Thomas’ best friend Sean Butler (Sean Blakemore). Unfortunately, this lead to a deadly altercation between Sean and Thomas when Thomas learned of the affair. Both men were serving overseas and during the confrontation, Thomas was left dead from a gunshot wound inflicted by Sean. A guilt-ridden Jordan realized her actions caused her husband’s death by his former best friend (Sean shot Thomas in self defense as Thomas would have killed him). Also, viewers learned Jordan’s son TJ was actually fathered by Sean, not Thomas. Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson) never forgave Jordan for her betrayal of her husband which lead to Thomas’ death (though she admitted in a recent episode that she had forgiven Jordan but still couldn’t attend Curtis and Jordan’s wedding). Aunt Stella’s acceptance of their marriage is something the bride and groom hope for.

Off screen Vinessa Antoine, the actress who originated the role of Jordan and played the character for four years, departed this summer after being offered the lead in CBC’s Diggstown. On September 13, Briana Henry debuted as Police Commissioner Jordan Ashford. It’s not easy replacing another actor. Henry has big shoes to fill; her interpretation of Jordan won’t be the same as Antoine, after all, she’s playing Jordan not Vinessa.  Here’s hoping fans will allow her to make the character her own. For longtime Curtis and Jordan fans, seeing this couple marry may be bittersweet as Vinessa isn’t the Jordan marrying Curtis. I do hope that fans will allow Briana to grow in the role of Jordan and realize that her chemistry with Turner will be different.
