A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

Maxie (Kristen Storms) met with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at Charlie’s and told her how she now believed Peter planned to come after her (Maxie). Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) visited Nurse Chloe Jennings, who hadn’t regained consciousness. Liesl (Kathleen Gati) held a knife to Victor’s (Charles Shaughnnesey) throat and said even though he survived when she shot him, she’d finish him. “What’s going on between you and Elizabeth?” Chase (Josh Swickward) asked when he saw something between Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Sonny (Maurice Benard) told Nina (Cynthia Watros) if he wanted to tend bar and sweep floors like Mike he’d stay in Brooklyn. He told her his wife, family and business was his life even though Nina didn’t want to believe it. Carly (Laura Wright) asked Jason (Steve Burton) whether they should tell Sonny their (Carly and Jason) marriage was almost real. She worried if Sonny was handling his bipolar disorder. Terry (Cassandra James) asked Elizabeth what was going on with her. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) entered Charlie’s and told Brook Lynn that Sonny was alive. Nina asked Sonny whether he was happy as Mike. Sonny answered he was because he didn’t know what he was missing, adding Mike was an illusion. Carly and Jason realized knowing about them was just the thing to cause Sonny a bipolar episode. Finn told Chase he and Elizabeth almost kissed. Anna and Valentin speculated how Chloe showed up in Greece. Valentin reminded Faison (Anders Hove) did business with Helena (Constance Towers) and Cassadine Island was nearby. Liesl told Victor she’d kill him to get back to her remaining child (Britt). Finn told Chase almost kissing Elizabeth has made things awkward between them while Elizabeth told Terry she didn’t think Finn wanted to pick up things where they left off. Victor told Liesl how he regretted Nathan (Ryan Carnes) wasn’t his son. He sadly said they’d have to do this the hard way. “Hello Liesl” Peter (Wes Ramsey) said as he held a gun to her back. Josslyn asked Maxie how she knew Sonny was alive as he only told his family. Nina told Sonny how a day didn’t go back when she didn’t say to herself she’d tell him the truth. But she would see how safe and happy he was…it was like Nixon Falls was this parallel universe. Carly reminded Jason how paranoia was how Sonny dealt with things when he had a manic episode. And the worse thing would be if he focused his paranoia on them..the two people he trusted the most. Victor removed the knife from his throat. He told Liesl how he and Peter were working together and he arranged for his retrieval after August jumped off the bridge in Pennsylvania. Peter gloated, saying he tied up loose ends by burning that bar to the ground with Liesl’s niece inside. Peter intended to tie up more loose ends by killing Liesl, who said she didn’t care if her life was taken as long as Victor let her kill Peter first. Jason told Carly if Sonny asked him he’d tell him the truth: They planned for their marriage to be real but then he came back. Jason wanted Carly to remember they did nothing wrong and would be okay. Josslyn convinced Maxie if she knew anything about what happened with Sonny while he was gone, she should tell Carly. Sonny reminded Nina she played God and now had to deal with the fallout. But for what it’s worth, besides for the initial impulse to get revenge against Carly he believed she just got caught up in something that spiralled out of control. Nina said she hoped her actions wouldn’t hurt him more than they already have. Then she left the cemetery. Anna and Valentin left the hospital to talk with the locals to get information about Chloe. Taking Chase and Terry’s advice, Finn and Elizabeth talked about participating in GH’s Trivia Night. Peter thought it was a mistake when Victor decided to keep Liesl alive. After Peter left the room, Victor received a call from Chloe’s doctor who reported she had two visitors from the WSB. Josslyn brought Maxie to the Corinthos house and told Carly she had something to tell her. Sonny visited his dad’s grave and thanked Mike for helping to save his life. When Jason appeared, Sonny said he was glad he was there.

Tuesday

Crete, Greece. Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) suggested he and Anna (Finola Hughes) take the night off. Liesl (Kathleen Gati) was shocked when she entered a cell to treat a man and came face-to-face with a not so dead Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). He wondered who had them locked up. Liesl gave Drew antibiotics to help treat the wounds from his recent beating. Nina (Cynthia Watros) came to the Quartermaine mansion to visit with Wiley. Maxie (Kristen Storms) said although a part of her believed it wasn’t her place to tell Carly (Laura Wright) what she needed to tell her. But there was also a part of her who felt that as Sonny’s wife she needed to know. Then, Maxie revealed Nina knew Sonny was alive for months. Josslyn was furious that when she visited Nixon Falls Nina was keeping Sonny hidden and let everyone grieve. Maxie assured Carly she only found out this morning when Nina told her. Carly demanded to know how long Nina knew Sonny was alive. Liesl told Drew that Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is responsible for his original abduction and what’s happening to him now. She explained how Victor Cassadine was calling the shots and would more than likely have Peter eliminated when he was no longer useful to him. Jason told Sonny about the bombing at the wedding and how Ms. Woo saved his and Carly’s lives. Sonny told Jason how he received treatment for his bipolar condition while in Nixon Falls. Jason reminded a bartender named Mike who was treated and urged Sonny to go to his own psychiatrist. Anna and Valentin were open and honest with their feelings. Anna admitted how she missed his friendship and how it scared her when he came back into her life. She said he knew her better than anyone. And because he operated under a different code than Robert (Tristan Rogers), they were more alike. Anna and Valentin leaned in for a kiss. But after sharing a drink, Valentin fell asleep and Anna brought him upstairs to rest. We saw a tattoo on Valentin’s arm which also appeared on the arm of the bartender at the cafe. Maxie knew what Nina did was wrong but she still loved her. Carly told Maxie now Nina had to deal with the consequences then left the Corinthos house. Sonny told Jason that Nina Reeves knew he was alive. He explained how she came to visit her friend Phyllis (Joyce Guy) when she found him tending bar in Nixon Falls. Jason is angry that Nina kept Sonny away from his family for months. He was surprised Sonny wasn’t as angry as he should be. Sonny said he didn’t find any use in holding anger but added he’d probably have to discuss the situation with his psychiatrist. Uri announced a visitor. Nina asked Uri to take Wiley out of the room so she could speak with Carly alone. “You kept Sonny’s life from him. Now you are going to pay Bitch!” Carly angrily said.

Wednesday

Sonny (Maurice Benard) thanked Jason (Steve Burton) for talking with him about his bipolar condition and for taking him to GH for his bloodwork. Jason told Sonny he had to speak with Diane (Carolyn Hennssey) the paperwork to have Sonny declared legally alive. He reasoned he, Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny probably had to sign papers. Sonny said paperwork could wait because he had to tell Carly about what Nina (Cynthia Watros) did. Carly demanded Nina tell her why she stole Sonny’s life from her and to give her a reason why she shouldn’t kill her. Worried about what her mother would do about the Nina situation, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) left a message for Carly. Then, she met with Trina (Sydney Mikayla) and Cameron (William Lipton) and the trio discussed the plan to nail Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) as Ava’s (Maura West) stalker. At Kelly’s, Nikolas (Temporary being played by Adam Huss) interrupted Ava and Scott. When Scott walked away, Nikolas and Ava talked about how Sonny’s return could help their stalker problem. But Ava was certain Sonny’s return didn’t change anything. Scott returned to the table and proposed suggestions to their stalker problem: Pretend date other people, Take their children and Leave town or use Cassadine resources to hire a hitman to take out the stalker. None of those suggestions were viable options. Nikolas said unfortunately he had to agree with Ava about the divorce. Cameron came to Wyndemere and told Esme and Spencer that Trina made a reservation to Bora Bora for Ava and Nikolas because they called off their divorce. Trina and Josslyn received a text from Cameron…phase one of their plan was complete. Josslyn said she’d follow Esme and didn’t feel worried about the danger that posed, reminding Trina she’d dealt with Nelle (Chloe Lanier). Epiphany (Sonya Eddy) welcomed Sonny home and brought him to an exam room to take his vitals before his appointment with Dr. Sullivan. They talked about Jason’s arrest after being framed by Peter August (Wes Ramsey), his admittance and escape from GH and his saving Britt (Kelly Thiebauld) from Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) thugs. Sonny realized Jason left Britt for Carly. Nina told Carly it was her fault she kept secret that Sonny was, blaming Carly for what happened to Nelle and for trying to keep Wiley from her. Nina told Carly how when Jax (Ingo Radmacher) discovered the truth he urged her to come clean and trusted her to do the right thing. Carly and Nina’s animosity continued throughout their conversation with Nina saying she’d apologize to the rest of Sonny’s family, friends and even his seven grade teacher…but never to Carly. Josslyn called Jason and asked him to find her mother. Jason called Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and had him track Carly’s cellphone. After Esme left, Cameron discussed with Spencer his, Trina and Josslyn’s concern Esme was controlling him. Spencer hinted at something he’s done that he was worried his father wouldn’t forgive. Josslyn followed Esme to GH and watched as Esme approached Sonny. Jason arrived at the Quartermaine mansion and grabbed Carly and held her back before her confrontation with Nina got physical. Carly vowed Nina would never see Wiley again. After Ms. Reeves left, Carly told Jason her plan for Nina “I’m going to burn her life to the ground and spit on her ashes!”

Thursday

Jason (Steve Burton) urged Carly (Laura Wright) to let Nina (Cynthia Watros) suffer the consequences of her action. Carly reluctantly agreed to back off and not go over Nina. Ned (Wally Kurth) saw Carly leave the Quartermaine mansion and asked “What happened? Or what will happen?” Jason told Ned about Sonny’s return. Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) spoke with Laura (Genie Francis) on the phone and told her Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) moved back into Wyndemere and was working things out with his father. Kevin hung up the phone when Ava (Maura West) arrived. Ava asked Kevin to look out for Nikolas and Spencer while she was away. Cameron (William Lipton) assured Spencer he was there for him and he could tell him what he meant when he said he’d done something his father wouldn’t forgive. Trina arrived supposedly with documents Ava needed to see before she left for Bora Bora with Nikolas. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) introduced herself to Sonny as Spencer’s girlfriend and said she needed his help and it had to do with Spencer’s father Nikolas Cassadine. She told Sonny that Mr. Cassadine was taking Ava and Avery to Bora Bora. Sonny thanked Esme for coming to him then left GH. Esme called Spencer. Trina and Cameron left the room. Cameron reminded Trina her coming to Wyndemere wasn’t part of the plan and her arrival interrupted Spencer from possibly confessing to being the stalker. Carly confronted Jax (Ingo Radmacher) about helping Nina keep the secret Sonny was alive. Jax told Carly he tried to convince Nina to tell the truth about Sonny. But she felt Sonny was happier in Nixon Falls. Jax angrily commented how both she and Nina accused him of helping the other so he couldn’t win. He added he knew he wouldn’t get back together with Nina because she moved on. Sean (Sean Blakemore) came to see Alexis (Nancy Grahan) and told her about Jordan being hurt. Ava arrived. Looking into Ryan’s face, she told the serial killer she knew he had something to do with her stalker and he may have won for now. Ned talked about how concerned Monica (Leslie Charleson) will be when she learns Sonny is alive and Jason goes back to being his lieutenant. Jason assured he wasn’t that hotheaded twenty year old anymore and would be careful. Esme was alerted to Josslyn’s spying when Kevin noticed Ms. Jax standing around the corner at GH. Esme gave Josslyn a warning “Minding your own business is free. Minding mine will cost you.” Spencer warmly greeted his Uncle Sonny. Sonny asked about Spencer’s father. Nikolas returned home and once they were alone, Sonny said they had to talk.

Friday

Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) was angry with Sonny (Maurice Benard) barging into his home and making accusations that he had no idea what he was talking about. Sonny told Nikolas he was lucky he didn’t come back a day later because he wouldn’t have rested until he (Nikolas) was dead. Trina (Sydney Mikayla) showed Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) the photo of Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) talking with Sonny. Carly (Laura Wright) asked Jax (Ingo Radmacher) what else about Sonny was Nina (Cynthia Watros) keeping from her. Maxie (Kristen Storms) met with Nina at Kelly’s and apologized for having to tell Carly that Nina knew Sonny was alive. Maxie reasoned that Sonny hasn’t told Carly yet because he was protecting Nina and may not even know it. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) arrived at her dad’s house and expressed how angry she was with what Nina did to her father. Jax told Josslyn how Carly was angry he kept his hunch Sonny was alive a secret. Carly added she was angry why Jax felt the need to keep his suspicions secret. Scott (Kin Shirner) warned Austin (Roger Howarth) about the Quartermaines. Ned (Wally Kurth) told Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) how Austin thought Leo was austic. Ned said he didn’t think Austin was making things up. Maxie introduced Nina to Austin. When Nina left Kelly’s, she ran into Scott who asked her how she could have gotten Liesl (Kathleen Gati) involved in her problems with Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Sonny told Nikolas he would make sure Cassadine didn’t try to leave town with Avery. Spencer entered the room in time to stop Sonny’s goons from roughing up his father. Trina and Cameron rushed into the room and admitted they lied about Ava and Nikolas going to Bora Bora. Then Spencer confessed to being Ava’s stalker and said Esme was the one who torched Ava’s car but did it because of him. Sonny told Spencer he’d talk with him about this later and then left without apologizing to Nikolas. Leo came downstairs and seemed to be focused on a crystal and didn’t make eye contact with Ned or answer his questions. This further convinced Ned the boy could be austic. Esme arrived while Ava was confronting Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) about being the stalker. Esme commented about Ava and Nikolas’ trip to Bora Bora and of course Ava had no idea what she was talking about. After Ava left, Esme approached Ryan and said she thought she (Ava) would never leave. Scott gave Nina his business card and advised to be on guard for retaliation from either Sonny or Carly. Spencer sadly asked his father to say something. Nikolas asked how Spencer could have gone so far as to make he and Ava think Avery was in danger to the point of Ava considering leaving her daughter…especially since Spencer resented him (Nikolas) for leaving. “Do you hate me that much?” Nikolas asked his son. Ava entered and asked what was going on. Sonny returned home. Carly asked about his appointment with Dr. Sullivan then said they had to talk about Nina.
