A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

At GH, Stella (Vernee Watson) told TJ (Taj Bellows) how proud she was of her doctor grand nephew. Curtis (Donnell Turner) welcomed Drew (Cameron Mathison) home when his friend arrived at The Savoy. Trina (Sydney Mikayla) joined her mom at The Metro Court and told Portia (Brooke Kerr) she felt like a loser. Finn (Michael Easton) offered his condolences to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) over Jason’s (Steve Burton) death. She added she wished he’d killed Peter (Wes Ramsey) when he threw him down the stairs. Maxie (Kristen Storms) came to see Liam and told Epiphany how she wanted to go to Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and Brando (Johnny Wactor) to support them. But Epiphany suggested she let the new parents be alone with their baby. Britt (Kelly Thiebauld) gave Sasha and Brando the bad news that the test revealed their son suffered brain damage during the placenta eruption and now he had no cognitive or motor functions. Britt told them they had some decisions to make for their son. Brando and Sasha wanted to get a second opinion and needed to see their son. Trina told her mother she felt like a loser because she didn’t have a boyfriend, which Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) pointed out. Portia said Esme was jealous of Trina, who asked about why Portia and Curtis stopped spending time together. Portia said Curtis had a lot going on. Marshall (Robert Gossett) entered and approached their table. He introduced himself and said he was Curtis’ father. Drew and Curtis talked about how Peter held Cain hostage and Ashford leaving the PI business to become the owner of a nightclub. Curtis told Drew about the father he thought was dead coming back. Anna (Finola Hughes) was telling Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) that Peter was being arraigned this afternoon when she received news that Peter was being brought into GH. Sonny admitted to Carly he was responsible for Peter’s condition. She thanked him for being honest with her. Finn and Elizabeth tended to Peter when August was brought into the ER. When Anna and Maxie appeared, Finn told them it seemed Peter was poisoned with a toxin. Maxie told Elizabeth she can’t imagine how hard it is to remain professional as a nurse treating a man who took so much from her. Stella asked what TJ was keeping from her about Curtis. Epiphany offered her support to Britt who felt awful about the terrible news she gave Sasha and Brando, who visited their son and said he was a fighter. TJ answered it was Curtis’ secret to tell. Portia encouraged Marshall to allow Curtis to come to terms with his return. Drew offered to help Curtis undercover the truth about his father. Maxie said it would be better for everyone if Peter died. Meanwhile, Elizabeth pulled out a syringe and stood over Peter. Stella came to The Savoy to see Curtis and was surprised when Marshall entered.

Tuesday

“Marshall Ashford, what are you doing here?” Stella (Vernee Watson) demanded. “Stella good to see you again” Marshall (Robert Gossett) answered. Austin (Roger Howarth) told Britt (Kelly Theibauld) that her brother Peter (Wes Ramsey) was more dead than alive. Finn (Michael Easton) told Maxie (Kristen Storms) someone went through great lengths to poison Peter. Standing over Peter with a scalpel, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) recalls the destruction he caused. Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) asked Brando (Johnny Wactor) whether their son felt alone in the neonatal unit but knew he felt their love. Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) returned home. He wanted to celebrate and showed her the Christmas tree. Michael (Chad Duell) told Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) he was sure about speaking at Brad’s (Parry Shen) parole hearing as Cooper was brought. Sasha told Brando even though his life isn’t perfect, Liam will know love. They were determined not to give up on their son. Finn walked in before Elizabeth could use the scalpel on Peter. He reminded her how she stopped him from confessing to throwing Peter down the stairs because that would have taken him away from Violet. Britt was happy to hear the news about Peter. At the parole hearing, Selina assured Michael and Willow if her nephew had some fortune she’d be responsible for him and make sure he’d stay away from their family. Stella didn’t seem surprised to see Marshall. Sonny told Carly he wanted to celebrate Christmas early to make up for lost time. They showed Avery and Donna the Christmas tree. Carly found the Caroline keyring Jason gave her when they first met. She told Sonny the story and they hung it on the tree. Michael spoke at the parole hearing, telling the panel about Brad’s role in the baby switch and how the ramifications of his actions are still felt by him and Ms. Tait to this day. Austin (Roger Howarth) told Britt she was underrating herself…she has a great bedside manner. Stella urged Curtis to hear Marshall out. Marshall told Curtis if he’d stayed he would be putting his family in danger, adding if TJ wanted a relationship with him it was his decision. Britt told Sasha and Brando that keeping Liam on life support wouldn’t help his quality of life. There was only one decision as his situation won’t improve: Take their son off life support. Brad spoke at his parole hearing asking for another chance to prove he’s more than his mistakes and wanted a chance to make amends. The parole said they had to deliberate and would come back with a decision soon. Stella told Curtis there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for this family. Selina called Sonny and told him the parole board ruled in favor of Brad’s parole and he’d be released by the end of the week. Ms. Wu expressed her gratitude. “A deal’s a deal” Sonny said then hung up without telling Carly the truth.

Wednesday

Both Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) were distracted thinking about the other. Michael (Chad Duell) told Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) Ms. Wu (Linda Park) probably pulled strings to get Brad’s (Parry Shen) parole granted. He again said Brad had better stay away from Wiley. Brad didn’t think it was a good idea when Selina brought him to The Metro Court. Selina assured she and Sonny (Maurice Benard) had an understanding as long as he stayed away from Wiley. Ms. Wu told Brad to call her Aunt Selina and said she saw potential in him and would help him get back on his feet. Selina frowned when Britt (Kelly Monaco) walked off the elevator and welcomed her best friend home with a hug. Selina told her nephew she knew who Dr. Westbourne when Brad started to introduce them. She commented their table was ready and she was sure Dr. Wesbourne was very busy. Britt said she actually had nothing to do. Molly (Haley Pullos) and Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) arrived at their mother’s house. Learning Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Alexis (Nancy Grahan) were working together, Kristina said “It’s a disaster waiting to happen!” After Michael left for a meeting, Willow met with Olivia (Lisa LoCierco) but wasn’t happy Olivia brought Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) along. Finn commented that every time Chase (Josh Swickward) talked about his daughter it was like he was holding something back. Portia (Brooke Kerr) and Terry (Cassandra James) offered their support to Elizabeth as they did yoga. They could only imagine how difficult it was for her now that Peter (Wes Ramsey) was off. Sam angrily assured her mother she knew how to do her job when Alexis questioned their client’s motives in hiring Sam. Alexis apologized for trying to tell her daughter how to do her job. But later she almost did the same thing while discussing Molly’s legal strategy with her for her daughter’s case. Brook Lynn reminded Willow how she slept with Michael while she was married to Chase so she had no right to throw stones over her lying to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Willow reminded Brook Lynn her situation was complicated. When Willow went to sit alone to think, Harmony approached. No sooner had Britt told Brad people would forget what he did, Michael entered furious to see Cooper in his mother’s restaurant. When Brad went to speak with Michael alone, Selina reminded Britt of their conversation where she urged Dr. Westbourne to stay away. Britt told Selina she had no intention of abandoning her friend. Elizabeth told Portia and Terry how she kissed Finn and ran away afterwards. Finn and Chase were talking about the same thing. Finn didn’t know what Elizabeth running away meant. Finn admitted he was confused…he and Elizabeth were good friends and he didn’t want to ruin that. Chase told Finn he didn’t want him to hold back out of fear. Brook Lynn entered the steam room and berated Chase for not answering his calls. Chase said he didn’t bring his cellphone in the steam room. After Finn left, Brook Lynn told Chase he needed to start defending her. Before walking away, Michael warned Brad if he ever mentioned his son’s name again “I’ll end you.” He returned to the dining room while Britt went to see how Brad was doing. Michael told Selina bringing Brad to his mother’s business was a sign of disrespect. But Selina assured her and Sonny reached an agreement. Britt told Brad how his Aunt Selina didn’t want her in his life but she said there’s no way she’d stop being his friend. Willow told Harmony it was important she remain in Wiley’s life as they were having problems with her son’s other grandmother. Willow told Harmony she and Michael would arrange a time when she could come over and give Wiley the Christmas present she got him. After Willow walk away, Harmony approached Alexis and said she’d be her friend if that’s what Ms. Davis wanted. Taking Chase’s advice, Finn rushed to GH to see Elizabeth. Brook Lynn told Chase he needed to stand up for her because everyone was treating her like the bad guy. When she attempted to leave the steam room, Brook Lynn discovered they were locked in.

Thursday

Chase’s (Josh Swickward) towel fell down while he was trying to get the jammed door opened. At The Metro Court, Portia (Brooke Kerr) greeted Stella (Vernee Watson) who was distracted. Marshall (Robert Gossett) arrived at Volonino’s Gym where Curtis (Donnell Turner) was with TJ (Taj Bellows). Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) commented to Carly (Laura Wright) she’s probably glad Nina (Cynthia Watros) will get what’s coming to her. Nina ran into Sonny (Maurice Benard) at GH. Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) told Brando she wasn’t ready to say goodbye to their son, adding he had a heart beat so he was alive. But Brando asked what quality of life would be. Chase asked Brook Lynn to turn around. And when he told her to use her phone to call someone to get them out of there, she said she left it outside. TJ told Curtis he invited Marshall, who said he wanted to get to know his grandfather and make up for lost time. Curtis reminded you can’t make up for the past. Alexis (Nancy Grahan) didn’t know why Harmony wanted to be her friend thinking she deserves redemption. Sonny offered to go to Sasha so she wouldn’t be alone when Brando told him, Nina and Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) that Sasha went to see Liam. Nina supported Brando. After Marshall left, TJ told Curtis it wasn’t his place to ask his grandfather to leave. Curtis asked TJ to give him a chance to check Marshall out first. Finn apologized for rushing Elizabeth and if their kiss complicated things. Elizabeth told Finn she cared about him and wanted to be ready. Finn assured he wasn’t going anywhere, adding his world was better with her in it. Sonny tried to help Sasha make the difficult decision about Liam. Gladys interrupted and told Sasha that Dr. Fleming needed to see Sasha and Brando for their decision about Liam. Portia and Stella talked about Marshall. Brook Lynn told Chas she’ll have to remind herself that the lie is protecting Bailey so she’ll just take the insults. She and Chase almost kissed until they were let out of the steam room. Marshall met with Stella at The Bistro. She said now that they were alone it was time to lay all their cards on the table. Sasha returned to her hospital room to Brando’s waiting arms of comfort. Nina told Sonny that he was both Mike and Sonny. Carly and Olivia arrived at GH and saw them together.

Friday

Drew (Cameron Mathison) was excited to show Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Scout the small Christmas tree he got. Portia (Brooke Kerr) asked Curtis (Donnell Turner) whether the reservations he had about Marshall (Robert Gossett) had to do with his fear of being hurt. Stella (Vernee Watson) reminded Marshall how her sister lied to her children that he had died and kept his secret until her dying breath. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) commented to Britt (Kelly Thiebauld) how unfair it was that an innocent baby like Liam had to die when Peter (Wes Ramsey) got to live. At least for now, Britt added. Brando (Johnny Wactor) assured Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) he’d be right by her side to help her make the right decision about Liam. Carly (Laura Wright) and Olivia (Lisa LoCiciero) saw Nina (Cynthia Watros) with Sonny (Maurice Benard). Drew promised to teach Scout how to ride a bike. Curtis told Portia that Marshall couldn’t hurt him but he had to know why he left and why he came back. Marshall told Stella he stayed away to protect her and Irene. Sasha told Brando how Sonny told her about the difficult decision he made to let Mike (Max Gail). So regardless of how hard it was, they had to do what was right for Liam. Olivia questioned Nina about being with Sonny. Carly didn’t want to talk about Nina and instead said Sasha and Brando needed them. Marshall told Stella all he wanted to do was move forward. He commented how Curtis owned a nightclub and added music was a large part of his life. Sasha and Brando talked about the incredible life Liam would have had. Brando said Liam would have been lucky because he had her as a mother who would have taught him the true meaning of love. “How is this happening? He just got here and now it’s over…I’m not ready. But we can still show Liam what real love looked like.” Before walking away, Nina told Olivia she’d be better to worry about her own marriage instead of Sonny and Carly’s. Sam commented how she doesn’t know how Drew survived his captivity. He answered thinking about Scout got him through. “Now you have her back,” Sam added. Curtis told Portia he knew Marshall had something to do with Joey Novak’s beating. Marshall told Stella about his love for his instrument and how the newer models could replace his beloved piece. Nina, Sonny and Carly looked on sadly watching Sasha and Brando follow Britt, knowing they’d made the heartbreaking decision to end their son’s life. Curtis called Drew and asked him to do a background check on his father. Marshall told Stella he intended to get back the family he lost. While Carly went to get him a drink of water, Sonny pulled out his rosary and said a Hail Mary for Liam. Dr. Fleming explained once they turned off the respirator they’d give Liam a shot of morphine so he wouldn’t be in any pain. Brando told Sasha their son would be with his namesake and Mike would watch over Liam. Sasha asked whether she could hold her son so Liam wouldn’t be alone when it happened. Drew assured Sam it was a simple background check. He promised he’d take no more risks. Portia asked Curtis what if the thing he learned was Marshall just wanted to be his father, how would he handle it? Carly returned with a bottle of water for Sonny. “Is it over?” she asked when Britt came out. Sasha cradled Liam in her arms and said although he was only there for a short time he was loved…she’d love him forever. Brando asked Mike to look after him. The spirit of Mike appeared and said he would. Ned (Wally Kurth) and Olivia came together as Leo’s parents while their son had an appointment with the neurologist. Marshall played his sax while various people in Port Charles processed their lives: Scout gave Drew a star ornament to put on the Christmas tree. Stella saw Curtis and Portia in a loving moment. Nina, Britt, Carly and Sonny watched helplessly as Sasha broke down in Brando’s arms over the loss of their son. The spirit of Mike asked Liam whether he was ready to go then carried the baby into the light.
