A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

Carly (Laura Wright) woke up and found Drew (Cameron Mathison) gone. He returned and asked whether she’d miss him if he’d gone. When Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) showed up at Deception, Maxie (Kristen Storms) told her she’d give her anything she needed. Sasha asked Maxie to help her find a dress for Brando’s (Johnny Wactor) service. Maxie gave Sasha the advice of taking one minute at a time. Gregory (Gregory Harrison) told Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) how difficult losing Reeko was for Finn (Michael Easton). He felt guilty he wasn’t there for his son when Finn needed him. At GH, Alexis (Nancy Grahan) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) asked Finn how Diane (Carolyn Henessey) was doing. Finn told them Diane was still in the ICU but they’d be the first to know once she regained consciousness. The prisoner, Book, told Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) he was his problem. He was angry because he’d been at Pentonville for twelve years and was promised the library job until Spencer took his gig. He again ordered Spencer to pick up the book and stepped on his hand when he did. Cyrus (Jeff Kober) entered, quoting a Bible passage. Book called Cyrus the cliche prisoner who found God. After Book left, Spencer asked Cyrus what he had to do to pay him back. Cyrus told Spencer how Book got his nickname for once beating a man into a vegetative state. Cyrus assured he didn’t want anything from him; they’re family. Plus, he would have done the same for any other child of God. At Charlie’s, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) told Trina (Tabyana Ali) she hasn’t been able to locate Dex (Evan Hofer). Trina told Josslyn about Curtis’ (Donnell Turner) interference to get her the fellowship. Trina received a text about a comic book convention Rory wanted to go to. Still worried about Dex, Josslyn left Charlie’s. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) asked Sonny (Maurice Benard) where Dex was. Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) entered and complained about her bruiser bodyguard. Carly wanted to return to Port Charles when she learned about Diane. But Drew encouraged her to stay in Florida where she was safe. They talked about the strategy to keep the cemetery from being moved. Drew reminded Carly there’s the real possibility the opposing press will use her past against her. Carly thanked Drew for being there. Cyrus told Spencer he’d spend the rest of his days atoning for his past. Cyrus urged Spencer not to let his disdain but his survival. He told Spencer he was there for him…all he had to do was ask. Josslyn came to Sonny’s restaurant. “May I help you?” Carver asked, holding his knife in front of her in a strange way.

Tuesday

“I needed to see the spot when my life changed in an instant,” Carly (Laura Wright) told Drew (Cameron Mathison) about visiting her old high school, John F. Kennedy High School. Ava (Maura West) came to visit Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) at Spring Ridge and told him she thought he was faking his condition. “You need to divorce Ava immediately” Victor (Charles Shaughnessey) told Nikolas (Marcus Coloma). At The Metro Court, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) suggested Michael (Chad Duell) leave Aurora and come back to ELQ. Carver introduced himself to Josslyn (Eden McCoy) as the new chef and refused to let her retrieve her jacket she left. Shivering in the freezer, Dex (Evan Hofer) sang The Star Spangled Banner to distract himself. Diane (Carolyn Henessey) was off the ventilator and Robert (Tristan Rogers) began questioning her about the attack. Carly shared with Drew the circumstances involving her best friend Reese’s death in a car accident. Victor told Nikolas he didn’t have a choice in the matter…he would divorce Ava. At Spring Ridge, Ava told Ryan about her attack with a hook and asked whether he’d use a hook on her if he could get out of that chair. Diane told Robert when she was at Brando’s (Johnny Wactor) garage. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) told Sonny (Maurice Benard) if Diane could identify her attacker, they’d get ahead of the psycho. Sonny said he’d do whatever he had to get justice for Diane. Valentin promised Michael if he came back to ELQ they’d have time to work on their outside projects. Josslyn warned Carver he’d regret being so rude to her. “Outrageous. If anyone is going to gut you with a hook it’s going to be me” Ryan thought as Ava told him about the attacks. Victor told Nikolas he was out of his league with Ava. “She’ll believe in me again because I found a way to prove my love for her,” Nikolas told Victor. Josslyn interrupted Valentin and Michael. Valentin told Michael to think about his offer then left. “I think Sonny has Dex in his office. You need to help me get in there before he kills him” Josslyn told Michael. Carver came back to the freezer to taunt Dex. Diane commented to Robert that maybe she needed to talk with Sonny again. Carly told Dex she blamed herself because she contributed to Reese’s state of mind when she pulled out into traffic. “She would have never left me behind until she found out slept with her father,” Carly told Drew. Valentin interrupted Victor and Nikolas and gave his father a paper. Dante and Sonny joined Robert in Diane’s room. Sonny helped fill in the pieces for why Diane was in Brando’s office. Carver left a message for Sonny asking for permission to get the information out of Dex. Michael and Josslyn entered. Michael warned Carver the decision he makes could affect his future with Sonny. Carly told Drew that Reese’s father killed himself shortly after the accident. Drew told Carly she shouldn’t still be blaming herself for the reprehensible actions of Reese’s father who should have known better. Ava got a sign of knowledge from Ryan when she mentioned Esme. The paper Valentin gave Victor was the confession Nikolas had written. Victor was furious that a letter like it existed. Michael told Carver his only option was allowing Josslyn to check the back for Dex. Because if he didn’t, Michael would call his brother Detective Falconieri and if the PCPD found Dex, both he and his boss would be arrested. And Sonny would deny culpability and say Carver acted alone. Diane remembered she was attacked by a woman. Josslyn found Dex in the freezer and used Carver’s knives to cut him down. Diane recalled the sound of the female attacker’s bracelets. Josslyn told Michael how Sonny had Dex hanging by his wrists from a meat hook. Carver refused to allow them to leave until Mr. Corinthos gave the go-ahead. Carly told Drew how flattered she was when Mr. Roberts started looking at her so she started flirting with him. Drew reminded Carly the man was a predator. Ava told Ryan like all good blackmailers, Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) overstayed her welcome. Nikolas told his uncle the confession was his way to show Ava he loved her. Drew told Carly that Reese’s death was a tragedy in which the parents acted badly and the kids paid the price. “Let go of the misguided guilt,” Drew told Carly. Finally, Carly did so saying “It wasn’t my fault.” Drew enveloped her in his arms. Josslyn decided to call the police when Carver refused to let them leave. Sonny entered. “Hey dad, look what we found in your freezer” Michael said. Dante and Robert commented how Diane’s memories changed the course of the investigator. Ryan didn’t believe Esme would leave him to go to The French Riviera. When his uncle hinted at an accident to get rid of him leaving Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) the Cassadine heir, Nikolas reluctantly agreed to divorce Ava. Victor said he’d contact his lawyers. A woman in a black hood watched their conversation. She turned around revealing her face. It was Esme!

Wednesday

Carly (Laura Wright) was interviewed by reporter Tara about the beautification committee’s plans to relocate the cemetery. Tara asked why people should listen to Carly. “Oh Ava my love, what have you done to me daughter?” Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) asked after Ava (Maura West) left. Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) looked at her latest blood work and told TJ (Taj Bellows) unfortunately the numbers were going in the wrong direction. “What are you going to do about it?” TJ asked. TJ told Willow he was worried about the decision his friend was making. Nina (Cynthia Watros) told Curtis (Donnell Turner) The Metro Court would make a great venue for his and Portia’s (Brooke Kerr) wedding. “Hey dad, look what we found in your freezer” Michael (Chad Duell) said when Sonny (Maurice Benard) entered. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) wanted to call Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) so he could arrest Sonny. But Dex (Evan Hofer) said he didn’t want the cops involved; he wasn’t feeling well and just wanted to go home. The reporter told Carly the segment would air on the night’s news but warned of the reaction her pushback would receive. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) watched Trina (Tabyana Ali) from the shadows outside Kelly’s. Ava arrived and told Trina she just came back from Spring Ridge visiting Ryan Chamberlain. Josslyn appeared. Ava received a call saying Diane (Carolyn Henessey) remembered her attacker was a woman. After Ava left, Josslyn told Trina that Sonny was worse than she thought. Sonny angrily told Carver he had a problem with him planning to cut Dex in his name. Curtis told Nina how Trina reacted to his getting her an internship at The Chuck. Michael came to see Dex and told him he didn’t work for him anymore. TJ apologized for upsetting her and told Willow he would support her. Nina saw them hugging again. Ryan had a fantasy in which Ava returned to Spring Ridge and she saw him move. He jumped out of the wheelchair and admitted to faking the whole time. He told Ava that Esme was his daughter and he’d deal with her for killing his little girl. But after he loved her one last time. “Who’s the cheater now?” Nina commented after she walked away. Sonny told Carver he’d let Ms. Wu (Lydia Look) know he wouldn’t be using him as his enforcer. Carver left and Ava arrived, telling Sonny she was there to put in a good word for Dex. Michael gave Dex a check for fifty thousand as severance and hazard pay. He apologized for putting Dex at risk as he thought Sonny lived by a code that included not torturing an innocent man with a knife. Dex told Michael he wouldn’t accept the job was over, adding they could use what happened to their advantage. Carly told Drew that Virginia deserved much better than Frank. Sonny told Ava he would make his own decision about who to trust. He said he wasn’t going to allow Dex to disappear if he hurted those he loved. Ava told Sonny he made the right call. Dex told Michael that Sonny feeling guilty would be his way in. Michael allowed Dex to keep the check but added the conditions for him to stay away from Josslyn. Carly decided she shouldn’t be Carly Cornithos anymore but pondered what her new name should be. She asked Drew whether he was ever tempted to use the Quartermaine name. Drew told Carly he was proud of the Cain name because it represented the tours he served. Tara called Drew and told him and Carly about another story that beat hers. Carly read the news story which talked about her connection to Ruby Anderson and her involvement as a teenager in a fatal car accident. “They’re coming after me,” she said. Nina hinted at what people would think of Willow’s embrace with Dr. Ashford. Dex said he didn’t feel comfortable lying to Josslyn every time he saw her so he wouldn’t see her. TJ assured Curtis by the time he and Portia married, Trina would love him. Trina told Josslyn that Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) and Dex are two men that wouldn’t be good for them. “Hello daddy, did you miss me?” Esme asked when she visited Ryan at Spring Ridge. Ryan gave his daughter a sinister smile.

Thursday

Portia (Brooke Kerr) met Trina (Tabyana Ali) at Kelly’s. Trina told her mother she was tired of being treated as a child and wouldn’t be forgiving Curtis (Donnell Turner). At The Savoy, Uri, Finn (Michael Easton), Terry (Cassandra James) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) were there to hear Chase (Josh Swickward) sing. Finn talked about how he changed his original speciality from hematology to infectious disease when he couldn’t save someone he loved. Selina (Lydia Look) told Cody (Josh Kelly) he was late. She warned him not to betray her or that the beating he got would feel like a love tap. Brook Lynn (Temporarily being Briana Lane) was with Chase to support him on his gig. While Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) told Brook Lynn there’s a possibility Chase could rejoin the force, Chase told Curtis he’d leave singing in a heartbeat to be a cop again. Oz came to Jordan’s (Tanisha Harper) office to ask whether they’ve found Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) yet. He also refused to accept any deal except the total immunity he was promised to testify for Trina Robinson. “You keep forgetting I’m my father’s daughter, impossible to get rid of and ready to seek revenge on anyone who tries, ” Esme told Ryan (John Lindstrom). Esme told Ryan she was left for dead after falling off the terret and was saved from the water by a fisherman. Ryan grabbed her wrist and accused her of gutting Ava with a hook for payback. He told Esme she could go after anyone in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard), but he and he only would decide Ava’s fate. Esme assured she didn’t have anything to do with Ava’s hook stabbing. Esme hinted at a plan to bring down the Cassadine family. Portia told Trina how Curtis was there to hold her when she cried and would have mortgaged The Savoy if she’d be convicted and they needed to pay for her appeal. Elizabeth told Terry about seeing Reeko at the bottom of the stairs. She also mentioned she felt her relationship with Finn was about him needing to protect someone. Esme told Ryan she couldn’t risk accessing her trust fund for fear of being discovered by the PCPD and brought in for questioning. Ryan had some money from when he was impersonating Kevin (also Lindstrom) but couldn’t get to it without his twin’s credentials. Esme said she’d figure something out then after kissing her father on the cheek, left. Portia and Trina arrived at The Savoy. Trina asked Curtis whether they could go back to being friends. Oz got the deal he wanted and signed the immunity agreement. Chase performed at The Savoy. Robert told Jordan she was a good police commissioner. The woman with the hook attacked Oz on the pier.
