A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

Cody (Josh Swickward) admired Baby Britta Noel and told a nurse “She’s named after a very special person” Cody told her. Austin arranged a meeting with Britt (Kelly Thiebauld) and Terry (Cassandra James). At GH, Maxie (Kristen Storms) worked on planning Britt’s party. Heather (Alley Mills) hinted to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) she could help with their hook killer investigation. Laura (Genie Francis) vowed the police would get Rory (Michael Kruse) justice. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) said it would be over once Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) was found. But he assured he’d let the police do their job. Austin suggested a six figure piece of equipment that could detect cancer cells. Terry was confused when she couldn’t approve such a high purchase for the hospital. But Britt recommended they let the board vote. She added she just delivered a breech baby so she didn’t want to be considered a tight fisted Ebenezer Scrooge. After Britt left the room, Terry asked Austin what was wrong with Britt. Mac (John J. York) assured Cody he was deserving of praise. Brad (Parry Shen) and Maxie were confused why Britt wanted them to work together on the party. Portia examined Heather who asked questions about Esme Prince. A photographer from The Invader took a photo of Laura in which Trina and Spencer joined in. Trina and Spencer hoped it would lure Esme out of hiding. While both Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Marshall (Robert Gossett) warned Trina about him, Spencer assured Laura he’d try to make his grandmother proud of the man he was. Heather offered to help befriend Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) to get information on Esme if Mac and Robert (Tristan Rogers) could guarantee her stay at Spring Ridge. Brad and Maxie were confused by Britt’s cryptic comments about them both there for each other when she was gone. Heather saw The Invader photo of Trina and Spencer when she looked at an officer’s cell phone when he was called away to fill out some paperwork. After Dante suggested he could begin 2023 on a good note with Britt, Cody came to Britt’s office at GH.

Tuesday

Carly (Laura Wright) asked Drew (Cameron Mathison) what was inside the box he was carrying. He answered something he hopes will help Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen). Michael (Chad Duell) tried to help a sick Willow. Maxie (Kristen Storms) ran into Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at GH. Brook Lynn was at the hospital because she was sick. Chase (Josh Swickward) got off the elevator at The Metro Court and read a text from Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) about the CCRB reviewing his case. Sasha (Sofia Mattesson) thanked Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) for looking out for her since Brando’s been gone. Dex (Evan Hofer) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) arrived for the meeting with the group wanting to run exports through Port Charles. They agree to each other’s terms. Brook Lynn told Maxie how she messed up with Chase. At The Metro Court, Chase came over to say hi to Sasha and Gladys, who told Chase she downloaded his new single. Gladys left to power her nose and ran into Selina (Lydia Look). Drew told Carly his reporter found an old photo of commune leader Josiah. He planned to try to match the old photo of pictures of Josiahs in the area. Wiley threw a temper tantrum and earned a thirty minute time out when Willow said she couldn’t take him sledding. Maxie told Brook Lynn her symptoms indicate she wasn’t sick or pregnant but was in love. Gladys gave Selina her diamond stud earrings she got from Sasha for Christmas as collateral for a line of credit. Selina accepted but warned it was only for one game…so she needed to be able to pay back what she owed. Cody admitted to Britt how he blackmailed Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) so he could meet her because she was Cesar Faison’s daughter and had something he wanted. But he grew to care for her and wanted another chance to see where it took them. Michael took Willow to see the newborns at GH and assured her they will have a long and happy life together. When Drew left the room, Carly matched Josiah’s younger photo with an older one of a man and took the information, folding it up and putting it in her purse. Drew came back in and Carly suggested they use the key he gave her for Christmas and go away to spend some alone time together. Although he agreed, Drew later called his reporter and asked him to question every local Josiah. But Britt told him the timing was off. “Goodbye Cody.” Sasha commented how it took when Gladys returned to their table. Britt met Selina at The Metro Court. In exchange for Britt never seeing Brad again, Selina gave her a new passport and driver’s license under the name Rita Jenkins. Sonny assured Dex he didn’t have to worry about him. With the export deal, he’d get everything he wanted.

Wednesday

Zaanse Schans, Switzerland, Anna (Finola Hughes) greeted Dr. Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) with a hug while Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) looked on. Britt (Kelly Thiebauld) packed her suitcase. At Kelly’s, Ava (Maura West) showed Trina (Tabyana Ali) The Invader photo of Trina and Spencer (Nicholas Chavez). Spencer told Victor (Charles Shaugnessy) his hope never to see his father again after his sentence was over. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) plotted how her fire hazard quarters can help her plot. Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) entered and told her he knew what she was up to. When Liesl (Kathleen Gati) knocked on the door, Britt tried to hide her suitcase under her bed but it was too big. So, she put it in the bathroom then let her mother in. Liesl entered saying she came to help Britt get ready for the party. “Why do you have a suitcase?” Liesl asked her daughter when she went to hang Britt’s dress in the shower and saw the suitcase. Cyrus (Jeff Kober) called it a blessing when Laura (Genie Francis) and Martin (Michael E. Knight) came to visit him at Pentonville. Spencer called his father taking advantage of Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) deplorable, adding he hoped Cameron’s (William Lipton) mother would come to her senses and kick Nikolas to the curb. Victor said he doesn’t think that would happen now. Nikolas threatened Esme with a feeding tube if she refused to eat because he wouldn’t tolerate a hunger strike risking his baby. Anna told Andre and Valentin she needed both their help so they needed to put the past behind them. Anna told Andre she needed him to be the man he was before. Britt told Liesl she got a good deal on a trip and was leaving after her birthday party. Liesl told Britt she betrayed her trust. Trina told Ava how she was going to break up with Rory (Michael Kruse) before he was killed. Anna asked Andre about Victor’s secret base, adding she and Valentin needed to infiltrate it because she believes that’s where Lucy is being held. Andre was surprised Anna and Valentin were going to do this alone without WSB assistance. Dimitris offered to have the chef make Esme anything she wanted for dinner. Liesl confessed she told Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) who happened to be there at the time. Britt understood because Nina is family. Britt and Liesl shared a warm mother and daughter moment where they both said they were proud to have the other. Nikolas confronted Victor about talking with Ava about Elizabeth. Cyrus told Laura and Martin that Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby was working for Victor and helped arrange Spencer’s early release. He realized Laura already knew. Spencer arrived at Kelly’s and asked to speak with Ava alone. He apologized for the grief he put her through for his father. Spencer added he thought she wasn’t good enough for his father. But turns out, Nikolas wasn’t worthy of her. Spencer acknowledged they will never be friends. Ava said that was true and that Nikolas let them both down. Spencer also told Ava he was taking Trina to Britt’s birthday party. And he knew he had Ava to answer to if he ever heard her. Nikolas assured Victor he wouldn’t spill Cassadine secrets to Elizabeth. Liesl took a picture of her and Britt in their party attire. Even with the information Andre provided, Valentin still didn’t know whether Dr. Maddox could be trusted. Esme talked with Baby Ace and told her child Dimitris would get what they needed. Cyrus warned Laura about Victor and said she knew where to find him if she could use his help.

Thursday

Britt’s (Kelly Thiebauld) birthday party, Britch Fest, was in full swing aboard The Haunted Star. Terry (Cassandra James) noticed Finn (Michael Easton) and asked whether Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) was the reason he was there because it wasn’t his scene. Elizabeth was at Wyndemere to check on Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl). Laura (Genie Francis) arrived at the door and walked in, not caring when Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) said it wasn’t a good time. Since she was dressed for Britt’s birthday party, Esme commented Elizabeth was overdressed for a housecall. Michael (Chad Duell) met with Dex (Evan Hofer) on Pier 55. Aboard The Haunted Star, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) took a selfie of him and Trina (Tabyana Ali) to lure Esme out of hiding. Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) came aboard. Sonny commented how he thought Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) was mistaken when she saw him at Christmas because he knew his nephew wouldn’t be back without coming to see him. Spencer tried to explain but Sonny smiled and said he was teasing and was glad to see him. Britt arrived at her birthday party and praised Brad (Parry Shen) and Maxie (Kristen Storms) for getting the sexy strippers for her party. Austin (Roger Howarth) encouraged Britt to tell the people she cared about the truth. But she preferred to slip out quietly before the end of the party. A woman was wheeled onto the dance floor. She was a drag queen who got up from the wheelchair to lively up the dance floor. Esme tried to convince Elizabeth to help her escape as she said she feared Nikolas would kill her once the baby was born. Spencer blamed himself for bringing Esme to town. Trina told him how Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) didn’t believe Esme was The Hook. Trina wondered whether the killer is someone they’d never suspect who could be at the party. Dex told Michael about Sonny’s deal with the Pipeman Group and their plan to export military weapons. He warned if Michael intended to use the information to bring Sonny down, it could also affect the Pipeman Group and they’d retaliate. Dex asked how Michael would feel to send Sonny to prison for the rest of his life. Michael answered Sonny was no longer the father he remembered so he didn’t care. Elizabeth came downstairs, greeted Laura then left. Laura realized Elizabeth was the wrong Nikolas cheated on Ava (Maura West). Nikolas asked his grandmother not to go after Victor (Charles Shaugnessy) because it would hurt him too. Britt told Nina and Sonny she knew they knew about her illness. Brad and Britt sang a duet. Then she blew out the candles on her birthday cake and made a wish. Esme pocketed a match after Dimitris brought a candle lit dinner for her. Someone watched Trina and Spencer on the deck of The Haunted Star.

Friday

The waiters brought out Britt’s (Kelly Thiebauld) birthday cake and she was told to make a wish. Austin (Roger Howarth) told Britt she could change her mind and stay. Nina (Cynthia Watros) blew the candles out and Terry (Cassandra James) cut the cake. Someone watched Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer (Nicholas Chavez). Michael (Chad Duell) put on 2023 glasses. Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) shared an ice cream sundae when Josslyn (Eden McCoy) entered looking for Cameron (William Lipton). Laura (Genie Francis) asked Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) whether he was so far gone he couldn’t be saved. Nikolas apologized for disappointing her. Laura asked Nikolas to decide whether he belonged to Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) or himself. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) looked at the fire alarm above the tree. She pocketed an ornament and told Ace it was to remember their first Christmas. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) told Finn (Michael Easton) she had a miscarriage. Josslyn told Sam and Dante she changed her major to pre med. Dante commented about how Sonny (Maurice Benard) believed Dex was the hook killer. Maxie came out on deck and asked Trina and Spencer to join the party before the Hook could strike again. Britt opened a group present. It was a television remote. A flat screen TV was brought out. Then, a This Is Your Life Britt Westbourne video montage was played. Britt was teary eyed and touched with the gift. Nina and Sonny talked about New Year’s last year. Trina and Spencer took a spin on the dance floor. Josslyn told her bodyguard she was going to the party aboard The Haunted Star and it would be okay because Sonny was there. Esme lit the match to the Christmas tree. Nikolas rushed upstairs when the smoke alarm went off. Seeing the fire, Esme wondered whether it was a good idea after all. Michael proposed to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) with Lila’s heirloom ring. Willow accepted. While Nikolas extinguished the flames, Esme ran out the room. She stood on the parapet telling Baby Ace once she caught her breath they were out of there. Nikolas arrived and told her there was nowhere to run. As the countdown to the new year began, Finn left to celebrate it with someone he loved: His daughter. Terry assured Elizabeth the new year would be better. Britt left the party. Austin toasted Britt and said she knew how to make an exit. Esme stood on the edge of the parapet and told Nikolas she’d survived the fall once, she could do it again. Then, Esme jumped off the parapet. Josslyn was on the pier looking at her cell phone. She turned around to see the killer raising the hook.
