A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

Maxie (Kristen Storms) and Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) told the performers the guests would be arriving soon. Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) looked for her updated music accompaniment. Lucy (Lynn Herring) called Maxie, who told her she’d speak with her afterwards. “I will not be ignored!” Lucy shouted and threw down the cellphone. With Amelia asleep, Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) settled in to watch the 2023 Nurses Ball Red Carpet. Crimson East Coast Editor Sydney VanJean (Chandra Wilson) was live from the Red Carpet and dedicated the event to the late GH nurse Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) and Lucy Coe. Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) watched the event on his laptop. When Sydney said anything can happen at the Nurses Ball, Victor commented “Oh you have no idea.” Drew (Cameron Mathison) came to the Quartermain gatehouse. Willow said Drew looked like the new James Bond. Carly (Laura Wright) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) walked the red carpet. Sydney questioned Carly about the changes in her life last year. But Carly assured she always gets what she wants, with Josslyn adding for her so far so good. Josslyn smiled when Dex (Evan Hofer) entered. After Drew left for the Nurses Ball, Michael commented he’s glad Drew didn’t have to hide his feelings for his mother. Sonny introduced Dex as his body guard. Nina (Cynthia Watros) arrived with Curtis (Donnell Turner). Ava (Maura West) came to GH with a garment bag containing a tuxedo for Austin (Roger Howarth), reminding him he promised to be her escort at the Nurses Ball. Ava also encouraged Portia (Brooke Kerr) to use her ticket and attend the Nurses Ball. Chase (Josh Swickward) called Brook Lynn a force to be reckoned with and praised how she encouraged those to perform. Linc entered. Sonny told Nina she looked great. Victor was proud of how his grandnephew was showing Port Charles what it meant to be a true Cassadine when Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) told Sydney his grandmother taught him how important it was to give something back to the community. When Trina (Tabyana Ali) entered, Sydney asked whether they were a couple. But Trina said they were friends to which Spencer added good friends. Sydney asked whether Nikolas (Adam Huss) would be attending. But then she saw Ava enter with Austin. Ava told Sydney as she and Nikolas divorced a few weeks ago, she no longer kept tabs on his whereabouts. Jordan (Tanisha Harper) arrived and told Sydney how glad she was that she was able to support GH. Portia arrived soon afterwards. Sydney commented how Portia and Jordan had being service servants in common. Curtis and Portia reached for the same glass of champagne but he let her have it. Finn (Michael Easton) and Chase walked the Red Carpet together. When Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Finn asked whether he could be her escort. When Sam (Kelly Monaco) walked the Red Carpet, she stumbled and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) caught her before she fell. Willow fell asleep while watching the event. Victor’s henchman told him they traced the car Lucy took. Victor was pleased as where Lucy was hiding he’d find Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). He pulled out his gun and said he’d make them pay.

Tuesday

Wednesday

Maxie (Kristen Storms) told Nina (Cynthia Watros) she’ll feel it was all worth it once the Nurses Ball was over. Linc came into Blaze’s dressing room. Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) told his henchman wherever Lucy (Lynn Herring) was, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) weren’t far behind. Anna and Valentin rushed into the room when they heard Lucy scream. “The Nurses Ball is about to begin,” Lucy said, turning on the TV. Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) and Maxie took to the stage and introduced the opening number. The GH nurses, featuring Dr. TJ Ashford (Taj Bellows) performed. Gladys wore a diamond bracelet on loan from a Deception photo shoot. She thanked Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) for making her first Nurses Ball special. Sam (Kelly Monaco) told Cody (Josh Swickward) vendors contributed to the Nurses Ball. Lucy told Anna and Valentin it broke her heart not being at the Nurses Ball in person. Victor told his henchman no one was allowed to approach the place where Anna, Lucy and Valentin were hiding until he gave the word. Brook Lynn Setton (Amanda Setton) came into Blaze’s dressing room and ordered Linc to leave, saying she’d help if Blaze needed anything. Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) agreed not to discuss their personal lives while at the Nurses Ball. Trina (Tabyana Ali) asked Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) why he chose not to escort her to the Nurses Ball. Sonny (Maurice Benard) interrupted and asked for a word alone with his nephew. Sonny asked whether Spencer heard from Victor. Spencer said he spoke with his Uncle Victor a few hours ago but didn’t reveal he knew Victor checked out of The Metro Court. Valentin cleaned up an old mini piano. He played and sang a song he wrote for Anna. And they danced to it. Ava (Maura West) and Austin (Roger Howarth) put on a display that they were a couple having a good time so Mac (John J. York) could see. Cody threatened to tell Sofia that Gladys had been using her position as executor to fund her gambling habit. Victor had a plan involving gaining access to the backstage entrance. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) took to the stage and dedicated the Nurses Ball to Epiphany (Sonya Eddy). Sonny texted Anna to let her know Victor had checked out of The Metro Court. Lucy praised Maxie for following her instructions after the chaos she witnessed at The Metro Court. Josslyn interrupted Trina and Spencer’s kiss because they had to get ready for their number. Bobbie introduced Trina and Josslyn’s performance. Victor requested his man Ambrose get into position once the hideout was located. He said he wanted Anna and Valentin unharmed, but Lucy was expendable. Anna said they had to leave when Lucy told her how she ordered a car to take her to The Metro Court. Gladys asked when they were talking about when she saw Cody and Sasha together. Linc approached Josslyn and said she was talented. Spencer told Trina her performance was much better than Josslyn. Brook Lynn saw Linc touching Josslyn’s arm encouraging her to have a music career. With the safe house located, Victor ordered for his men to get into position. Anna told Lucy they had to leave now but she didn’t want to go because the Nurses Ball was just on Intermission. “Valentin, move!” Anna shouted when she saw a sniper’s target on his chest.

Thursday

Anna (Finola Hughes), Lucy (Lynn Herring) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) rush back inside the safe house and take cover, avoiding gunshots that hit the couch. Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) “accidentally” spilled her drink on Linc giving Josslyn (Eden McCoy) the chance to walk away. Felicia (Kristina Wagner) recalled her first Nurses Ball performance as did Mac (John J. York) and Bobbie (Jackie Zeman), who commented how much the Nurses Ball has come to mean to a lot of people. Anna told Lucy to escape via her bedroom window. But Anna refused to leave Valentin, saying when they came in they wouldn’t like what they found. Finn (MichaelEaston) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herst) assured Portia (Brooke Kerr) that Trina (Tabyana Ali) would come around. Cody (Josh Swickward) questioned Sasha (Sofia Mattesson) about whether Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) told her who she sold the garage to. Gladys overheard and interrupted by telling Cody that Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was looking for him. After Cody walked away, Gladys warned Sasha he was bad news and she should stay away from him. Dante told Cody he wasn’t looking for him and tried to avoid Gladys due to the fact that you can’t choose your family. Linc was angry that Brook Lynn interrupted his recruitment of new talent. Deanna introduces the next performer: Danielle Ponder, a public defender who gave up her career to pursue her singing dream. Carly (Laura Wright) met Danielle and praised her decision to pursue her dream. Sonny (Maurice Benard) told Bobbie he was increasing his donor as he wanted to start an Epiphany Johnson scholarship for nurses. Trina was angry when she saw Spencer using his privilege by calling Dex (Evan Hofer) help. She said every time she thought he changed, he proved her wrong. After Trina stormed off, Josslyn told Spencer he’d do everyone a favor by going back to Europe permanently. One of Victor’s men delivered a message to Spencer to be ready when Victor requested. Victor (Charles Shaughnessy)said he’d deal with Lucy later when he learned she’d escape. He angrily told Valentin how he spent weeks demanding the French authorities release his body and how he was consumed with sadness and guilt when he thought he was dead. He added that it was because of him that Valentin got into the WSB. Victor demanded Valentin hand over the necklace otherwise his man would paralyze Anna. Finn introduced Chase and Blaze. After their performance, Linc came on stage putting his hand inappropriately on Blaze. Unable to take it anymore, Brook Lynn broke her NDA and revealed Linc as a sexual predator, which Blaze corroborated. Dante said he was making a public disturbance and removed Linc from the ballroom. During the commotion, Gladys snuck out of the room and planted her on loan bracelet in Cody’s jacket. Valentin handed over the real necklace. Since Valentin broke Victor’s heart, he said he’d return the favor then Victor shot Anna. Georgie and James performed a magic act with Liesl (Kathleen Gati). But when they did the disappearing person trick, Georgie and James were surprised when Liesl didn’t reappear. We saw an unconscious Liesl being put into the trunk of a car.

Friday

“Your betrayal broke my heart. It’s only fitting I return the favor” Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) told Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) then shot Anna (Finola Hughes) who fell to the floor. Maxie (Kristen Storms) told Nina (Cynthia Watros) that Liesl (Kathleen Gati) actually vanished from the vanishing box. The security guard hired to watch the borrowed jewelry asked Sasha (Sofa Mattesson) where Ms. Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) returned to the ballroom. “Gladys, where’s your bracelet?” Sasha asked when she noticed her mother-in-law’s bare wrist. Valentin rushed to Anna’s side to stop the blood. But Anna told him to go after Victor. Aboard The Haunted Star, Victor wanted Lucy (Lynn Herring) found because she was a loose end. He learned Holly (Emma Samms) wasn’t at the Switzerland burn center or anyone fitting her description so she wasn’t using an alias. Since Ms. Sutton was obviously searching for her son, it was time Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parson) was eliminated permanently. Trina (Tabyana Ali) told Josslyn (Eden McCoy) there was no excuse for how Spencer treated Dex (Evan Hofer). Gladys said the bracelet was stolen and told the security guard she went backstage to congratulate Maxie and talked with Cody Bell. Maxie came on stage and acknowledged the special anniversary of an act that performed ten years ago. And with that, she introduced Magic Milo and The Magic Wand. Led by Milo, TJ (Taj Bellow), Dex, Cody danced for the crowd. Trying to stabilize Anna, Valentin then called 911. The security guard found the bracelet in Cody’s tuxedo. Sasha asked whether he found the bracelet and put it in his pocket for safekeeping to return later. Mac (John J. York) appeared and asked what was going on. The security guard demanded he arrest Cody. Gladys said Cody had been following her all night waiting for an opportunity to steal the bracelet. After Cody admitted to following Gladys, Mac arrested him. Nina and Maxie worried there could be a trap door through the stage in which Liesl could have fallen through. Sonny helped with the search. Laura (Genie Francis) returned home and asked Esme how she was enjoying watching the Nurses Ball. Laura received a call and told Esme she had to leave Spencer asked Trina to tell him he hadn’t lost the best thing that ever happened to him. Spencer stopped their conversation to take a call from his Uncle Victor. Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) received urgent calls and left the Nurses Ball. Laura arrived at GH and asked Valentin how Anna was doing. The doctor came out and told Valentin that Anna was taken to surgery to remove the bullet and how they’d assess the possible damage bullet fragments might have caused to other internal organs. Felicia (Kristina Wagner) defended Valentin when Robert blamed him for Anna’s condition. But Valentin said it was his fault because his father shot Anna to get back at him. Lucy arrived at The Metro Court determined to find Robert to get help. But Victor’s goon found her first. But Lucy Coe was a survivor and did a self defense move on the man and ran away. He caught up with her when he recovered. She said he may have a gun but she had…a feather dress accessory. Fortunately for Lucy, Sonny knocked the man out from behind. Lucy thanked him and said she had somewhere to be. Spencer boarded The Haunted Star and heard the motor running meaning the boat was taking off. Valentin told Jordan whatever Victor’s plan was, they better be ready to stop him. Laura found Ace’s pacifier on the elevator floor, When she opened her door, she found Esme unconscious on the floor. Carly took to the stage and spoke of her mother Barbara Jean Spencer’s dedicated 45 years of service to GH. We saw flashbacks of Bobbie’s GH moments. Bobbie expressed how proud she was to be a part of GH’s first 60 years. Then, she paid tribute to Lucy. After recapping Lucy’s introduction to Port Charles and her shallow behavior, Bobbie said how Lucy changed when she found purpose in the Nurses Ball. In true Nurses Ball tradition, Lucy felt through her life-size photo cutout. Seeing her alive, the shocked Nurses Ball attendees gave her a standing ovation.
