A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

PARIS, FRANCE. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) took Trina (Tabyana Ali) to a restaurant he had never been to as part of their new life together. At GH, Laura (Genie Francis) spoke with a sleeping Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) and told him she needed him to come back to her. Kevin opened his eyes. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) knocked on Maggie’s door and demanded she open up. At his physical therapy, Curtis (Donnell Turner) wanted to try standing, but Stella (Vernee Watson) protested. Alexis (Nancy Grahan) and Tracy (Jane Eliott) arrived at the courthouse. Finn (Michael Easton) got them up to speed, including the fact that the oncologist hadn’t missed Mr. Muldoon’s late stage cancer. Martin (Michael E. Knight) explained their theory how Mr. Muldoon discovered his late stage cancer right after his family lost money investing in Aurora so he decided to set Finn up for malpractice. Tracy suggested Martin put Mrs. Muldoon back on the stand to make the family’s financial losses public record. After Physical Therapist Ben left the room to get some more towels, Stella encouraged Curtis not to rush his progress and reminded him how he pushed the neighborhood high school kids to let him play basketball with them when he was only eight years old and got a skinned knee in the progress. Ben returned to the room and Stella asked him whether it was safe for Curtis to try walking so soon. Spencer shared a story with Trina how he convinced his father to let him have caviar when he was a child but Nikolas (Adam Huss) tricked him into believing black beans were the caviar. Trina was happy to hear Spencer’s childhood stories. Kevin told Laura and Portia (Brooke Kerr) that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) did this to him. Maggie opened the door and let the police in. She told Dante how things had been quiet for her and she liked to keep it that way. Dante assured that they weren’t there to cause her any trouble. “We’re looking for Esme Prince.” Kevin told Laura what happened before Esme hit him over the head. He told Laura he didn’t survive Ryan (also Lindstrom) all these years just to be done in by her daughter. Laura commented how she thought Esme didn’t have time to reconcile her two personalities because Nikolas took Ace. Kevin was bothered by the assumption Esme went to Toronto as he’d thought she would go looking for Nikolas to get Ace back. Maggie told Dante she hadn’t seen Esme. Spencer refused to tell Trina what he had planned for her. Curtis was frustrated when he couldn’t stand long. Stella asked Ben to give them a moment alone. She asked Curtis why he would think this would work on the first try. Gregory (Gregory Harrison) took Tracy to get some water. Martin told Finn and Elizabeth that Mrs. Muldoon would be charged with fraud if it was proven she knew her husband’s plan to set Finn up for malpractice. Spencer told Trina how there were a lot of things for him to explore in Paris. He said Trina made him want to be better. Maggie told Dante she’d never jeopardize her life by seeing a troubled girl like Esme. Chase (Josh Swickward) told Dante there wasn’t anything to prove Esme had ever been there. Stella told Curtis he needed to pace himself and he’d get there. She added she believed in him. Portia entered and asked where Ben was and if his physical therapy session was over. “Is it?” Stella asked Curtis. Tracy and Gregory talked about Finn and the case. Martin interrupted Diane (Carolyn Henessy) and Mrs. Muldoon’s conversation. Before walking away to talk with Martin, Diane urged Mrs. Muldoon not to engage the defendant. But Mrs. Muldoon headed straight for Finn and said if he had a shred of decency he’d change his plea to guilty and end this. “Let’s talk about decency,” Finn said. Curtis said he was ready to finish his physical therapy. Stella left to get Ben. Curtis and Portia then talked about Esme. Portia said she was done with Esme and hoped she’d be found and put in prison where she belonged. Kevin remembered seeing The Invader’s corporate credit card in Esme’s hands. Laura texted Alexis with 911, Call Me. Martin told Diane he wanted to add Dr. Powell to the witness list. Diane didn’t know who Dr. Powell was. Mrs. Muldoon revealed Dennis encouraged her to file the malpractice suit. Diane rushed over and dragged Mrs. Muldoon away. Martin returned to the courtroom and told Finn how Diane appeared to not recognize Dr. Powell’s name. Dante called Laura and told her he thinks Esme set them up to buy some time. Laura told Dante how they had a new lead on their end. Alexis entered Kevin’s hospital room and was surprised when she received an email regarding The Invader’s credit card use. Finn told Elizabeth no matter what he decided, someone was going to get hurt. Curtis vowed he would be walking by the time Trina got back from Paris. Martin asked Finn how he’d like him to proceed. Tracy cornered Mrs. Muldoon in the hallway outside the courtroom and said she’d do all the talking. Court was called back into session and Martin asked Finn what they were doing. Alexis confirmed Kevin’s theory that Esme booked a flight to Paris. Laura realized Esme was going after Spencer and Trina. Esme followed as Spencer and Trina left the restaurant.

Tuesday

PUERTO RICO. Dex (Evan Hofer) assured Sonny (Maurice Benard) the place was secure. When Dex left the room, Ava (Maura West) commented on how security was tighter than the last time she was there. At Pentonville, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) suggested she speak with Brennan instead of Anna (Finola Hughes). But Anna was adamant she was the one to talk with him. “He’s playing games and I want to find out why” Anna told Jordan. Brennan came into the visitor’s room. After greeting Anna and Jordan, Brennan said before he and Jordan spoke he wanted to know what she was going to do for him first. Finn (Michael Easton) didn’t want to cause a grieving widow like Mrs. Muldoon pain. Martin (Michael E. Knight) told Finn it was a solid way out and asked whether he was sure he wanted to pass on it. Judge Arnold took the bench. “I can’t put a mother of four at risk of prosecution” Finn told Martin. Outside the courtroom, Tracy (Jane Eliott) told Mrs. Muldoon she was about to get an education on Dr. Finn and her. At GH, Curtis (Donnell Turner) was going to a game with Marshall (Robert Gossett). Portia (Brooke Kerr) assured she’d be fine and would wait for Trina (Tabyana Ali) to tell her about the wonderful time she was having in Paris. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) lead a blindfolded Trina aboard a boat heading down the Seine, telling her he wanted her to see the countryside before she started hitting the books. “You and I are going on a private cruise” Spencer said telling Trina they were going to travel down the Seine to Normandy and he had the hotel bring their things while they were at dinner. When appealing to Mrs. Muldoon’s sense of fairness didn’t work, Tracy said she’d appeal to her sense of self preservation. Brennan wanted immunity and all charges dropped. Anna told Brennan she could give him a much better offer. “What’s better than my freedom?” Brennan asked. “Your life” Anna answered. Ava reminded Sonny it wouldn’t be too long before he’d have to have some difficult conversations with Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola). Laura (Genie Francis) approached Curtis, Portia and Marshall and told them Esme wasn’t in Toronto. “She’s in Paris,” Laura said. As Martin announced he wouldn’t be adding a witness, Mrs. Muldoon returned to the courtroom. Diana then announced her client just told her she wanted to drop the lawsuit. Judge Arnold asked to see the counselors in his chambers. Ava told Sonny he’d have to tell Avery about Nina (Cynthia Watros) soon. Ava told Sonny that Avery has asked her about Nina. He vowed to love her for the rest of his life. Marshall wondered whether Esme was just trying to get everyone to believe she was in Paris. But Laura told them there was footage of Esme getting on a plane to Paris. “We have to warn Trina,” Portia said. “May I escort you to your stateroom Ms. Robinson?” Spencer asked. After they left the deck, Esme came downstairs. Judge Arnold returned to the bench and dismissed the lawsuit against Dr. Finn and General Hospital. Martin assured Finn he hadn’t done anything to put pressure on Mrs. Muldoon to get her to drop the lawsuit. Tracy said justice prevailed. Anna told Brennan his life was in danger because if Sonny found out he was withholding information, he wouldn’t last long in Pentonville. Brennan smirked Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) would be proud of his protege. Avery entered to show the seashells she picked. Sonny said he wanted to talk with her and said Ava could stay. He told Avery he and Nina were living apart because they needed to figure some things out. Then, Sonny asked how Avery felt about that. Avery said she guessed it was okay if he was okay with it but added Nina was nice to her and asked whether she’d see her again. Martin told Diane he wished he’d gotten the chance to best her in court. “You may get that chance when Hell freezes over,” Diane said with a southern accent before smiling and walking away. Spencer took Laura’s call but it kept dropping out due to bad reception. Trina also couldn’t get a signal. At GH, Laura told Curtis, Portia and Marshall although her call dropped before she could warn Spencer, he sounded normal. But Portia was worried that her call to Trina went straight to voicemail. She said Trina was halfway around the world in danger and away from her with that crazy girl after her. And it all came back to Spencer Cassadine. Esme was caught by the ship’s captain. She tried to lie that she thought it was the river tour. But he said she was a stowaway. “You’re coming with me,” he said. Esme tried to run then grabbed a fire extinguisher and hit the man over the head. Ava assured Avery regardless of where Nina lived she loved her and that would never change. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) called Finn a hero for the compassion he had for Mrs. Muldoon. Marshall was concerned about Curtis going to Paris. Portia announced she was going to Paris too. Spencer got out of bed and told Trina he was starving and would grab a snack. Brennan told Jordan about the shipment of weapons that disappeared on its way to WSB headquarters. He told Anna and Portia someone was selling the weapons for a high price. “Find them and they will lead you to the shooter.” Laura called Sonny to tell him Esme had been found. Sonny put her on speaker and she told him and Ava that Esme was in Paris. Before hanging up, Sonny warned Laura to be careful because Esme had nothing to lose. Tracy told Gregory she and Mrs. Muldoon spoke. Gregory warned Tracy she could be in trouble if the DA found out and thought it constituted a brief. Gregory added if it were true he’d owe that friend a debt. “Good to know…but I doubt that friend would ever collect” Tracy said. Finn told Elizabeth even if he couldn’t practice medicine, his true purpose was Violet, his family and her. Before he was taken back to his cell, Brennan said he looked forward to seeing her again. Marshall told Curtis and Portia that Esme would be sorry she messed with their girl. Curtis vowed they’d get to Trina and Spencer before Esme did. Spencer found blood on the deck. Trina got dressed and was shocked when she turned around and saw Esme. Dex grabbed the walkie and said “Man down. Someone get eyes on Sonny and his family now.” Sonny heard and he and Ava took cover under a table.

Wednesday

At Crimson, Carly (Laura Wright) thanked Maxie (Kristen Storms), Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) for meeting with her. She told them Deception’s advertising contract with Crimson was up for renewal and she’d hope to maintain the relationship and see it evolve. City Gazette columnist Gemma Compton met with Nina (Cynthia Watros). “I thought you’d like to set the record straight. Why was the woman who saved Crimson from financial ruin just shown the door?” Gemma asked. Lois (Rena Sofer) approached Olivia (Lisa LoCierco) at The Metro Court dining room. She said if she left it up to her, they might never speak again. “Is that what you want?” Lois asked Olivia. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) screamed for the captain. Trina (Tabyana Ali) asked Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) what she was doing there. Esme said she’s been all alone with Ace gone. “I’ve missed you and Spencer so much…where else would I be? ” Esme said as she walked towards Trina menacingly. Sonny shielded Ava under the table as shots rang out. Nina assured Gemma there was no story. Gemma commented even if it was her decision to leave, how could Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) let her go. On the record, Nina said she was proud of her tenure at Crimson. Of the record, she said in her own personal opinion Drew Cain was no business man when it came to running Aurora or Crimson he was listening more to his heart than he was his head. Sasha asked Carly how they could trust her to run Crimson. Carly said back in the 90s she was an owner in the Deception fragrance and had an affection for Deception and wanted to do right by it and them. Carly offered to increase Deception’s page count at a favorable rate. Suddenly, Tracy (Jane Eliott) entered and asked whether she missed the part where a rank amateur like Carly could avoid running Crimson right into the ground. Olivia told Lois to make her apology quick. Dex covered Ava and Sonny so they could make it inside from the terrace. Spencer shouted for Trina that the captain’s been attacked. “Someone’s on the ship with us.” “Hello Spence” Esme said. Spencer grabbed Esme by the throat and pushed her against the wall. He said he radioed for help. Esme told him she smashed the radio’s tracking system and they’d be long gone before anyone found them. “I’m not going anywhere with you. I’ll kill you first” Spencer said. Esme said he would never find Trina in time and he’d kill them both. Esme told Spencer he put her through agony helping his father take her son away from her and she’d do anything to get him and would kill Trina. She demanded he give her his hands. Esme tied Spencer’s hands behind his back. We then see Trina bound and gagged. Trina noticed a loose screw and made her way towards it. Carly told Tracy how Julian (William deVry) took a gamble on Nina and it paid off. All she was asking for is a smaller gamble be taken on her. Olivia told Lois she betrayed her trust and asked what are they supposed to mean to each other when her relationship with Sonny trumps theirs everytime. Ava wanted to check on Avery. Sonny said they go once they got the all clean. Dex entered and gave the all clear. He noticed Ava’s head was bleeding. Sonny asked whether Ava’s been hit. Tracy told Carly there’d be no contract until they saw Carly’s circulation numbers. Carly offered to give them three months without a contract if she didn’t meet the circulation numbers. But Tracy negotiated for three months out and eight percent off. Dex wrapped Ava’s hand. Sonny ordered a lockdown saying no one leaves the island. He ordered Dex to find the shooter and bring him to him. Esme told Spencer she’d let Trina go once they were far away. Trina would be given instructions to contact Laura (Genie Francis) to have her bring Ace to her. Esme was sure a resourceful woman like Laura would find Ace. Esme told Spencer she had special medicine to keep him obedient. Trina bursted in and demanded Esme stay away from Spencer. Soon, Esme and Trina were fighting. Nina told Gemma she looked forward to reading her article. After Gemma left, Lois and Olivia entered. Nina was in Olivia’s office because her office was being repainted. Olivia took up for Lois when Nina confronted Lois for telling Sonny she was the one he turned Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Carly into the SEC. Trina got the upperhand and knocked Esme out. She untied Spencer. Ava asked Sonny who shot at them. Sonny promised nothing would happen to Avery or his family. Trina told Spencer they had to get out of there. “What about her?” Spencer asked. “Let her bleed,” Trina answered. “Let her bleed,” Trina answered. Carly and Tracy agreed to five percent advertising. Tracy was impressed and signed the contract. Esme jabbed Spencer with the syringe. Lois and Olivia made up. Nina looked at a page of Crimson where it had her name as Editor-In-Chief. Gemma arrived at Carly’s office and said she was there to get a statement for an article she was writing about Nina Reeves’ ousting and Carly’s appointment as Editor-In-Chief of Crimson. Sonny told Dex whoever the shooter was know the security system. As he tried to stop her from jabbing Trina with the syringe, Esme and Spencer fell overboard.

Thursday

Laura (Genie Francis) was on the deck of the boat and asked Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) “Just say it…where’s Spencer?” Trina (Tabyana Ali) was in the stateroom thinking about when Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) stopped Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) from jabbing her with the syringe and they both fell overboard. Portia (Brooke Kerr) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) entered and comforted her. At GH, Felicia (Kristina Wagner) approached Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and said she heard her friend Adam (Joshua Benard) needed a patient advocate. Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) brought Adam’s guitar. His father entered the room. Lois (Rena Sofer) offered her opinion for Chase (Josh Swickward) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) wedding. It was obvious they didn’t approve of her wedding plans. At Crimson, Drew (Cameron Mathison) called making Carly (Laura Wright) as Editor-In-Chief of Crimson was the best business decision he ever made. Michael (Chad Duell) entered and asked “You got a minute?” Felicia told Josslyn (Temporarily being played by Courtney Fulk) she took a look at Adam’s recent psyche evaluation and it showed it was up to him whether he wanted to go home or back to school. Remembering her conversation with Gregory (Gregory Harrison), Tracy (Jane Eliott) she agreed with Lois’ wedding plans to Chase and Brook Lynn’s shock. Dante told Laura about finding the captain locked in a closet and how he identified Esme as the woman who he found aboard the boat. Trina told Portia and Curtis she knew Spencer was alive and how he saved her life like he did in Greenland. “I thought I lost him then but he came back to me. I just know in my heart he’s alive” Trina said. “Trust your heart,” Portia urged. To give them some time alone, Carly told Drew and Michael she was going to go to GH because she thought Josslyn could use some backup. After his mother left, Michael told Drew he was resigning. Mr. Wright told Adam he owed him an explanation for all the lies he told. Josslyn entered with Felicia and said Adam didn’t owe his father anything. Felicia told Mr. Wright she was a patient advocate on staff and needed to speak with Adam alone. After Lois left the room, Brook Lynn told Tracy she counted on her to say no to Lois’ plans. Trina told Laura, Portia and Curtis what Esme was planning. Dante entered the stateroom and said he didn’t have good news. Brook Lynn told Tracy they wanted to get married in Port Charles where they met and where it had meaning for them. “I just want our wedding to be our wedding,” Brook Lynn told Tracy, who promised it would be. Drew admitted to Michael his anger was miss directed towards him. Drew told Michael he wanted him there…but with new ground rules. Carly entered Adam’s room to support her daughter from Mr. Wright’s bullying. Adam asked to speak with the advocate alone. After everyone left the room, Adam asked Felicia “What happens now?” Felicia answered it was up to him to choose how he wanted to live his life. Dante told Laura, Trina, Portia and Curtis the search for Esme and Spencer was no longer being called a rescue and was now a recovery with Spencer presumed dead. Trina cried and said she knew Spencer was alive and ran out of the room. Portia left the room saying Trina shouldn’t be alone right now. Curtis left the stateroom to hear the information from Dante’s contact so he could relay it to Trina when she was ready. Laura cried over the loss of her grandson. Felicia told Adam all he had to do was ask for help. Josslyn told Mr. Wright Adam needed him to see him for who he was. Tracy told Lois the wedding would be a formal affair but the night before the wedding was when the fun happened. Trina cried how she was supposed to let Spencer go. Tracy suggested recreating Coney Island in Port Charles for the rehearsal dinner. Lois suggested Tracy fly everyday down to Coney Island, which Tracy could rent out. Chase and Brook Lynn loved the idea. Adam thanked Josslyn for saving him when he tried to kill himself. Then, Adam came out into the waiting room and told his father he wasn’t going home with him. Drew asked Michael to work with him while he made Nina (Cynthia Watros) pay for everything she’s done. “So are you with me?” Drew asked Michael. Laura cried to Dante about all the what ifs. “I can’t imagine a world without Spencer…I just can’t.” Trina asked Portia why they didn’t get away from Esme when she first showed her true colors at the cabin. Trina told Portia she’d meet her at the stateroom. “How do I do it Spencer? How do I say goodbye?” Trina cried. Gregory called Tracy amazing. Adam told his father he was going back to PCU, which had a great music department. He added he would pay for his education. “You have my phone number and I have yours whenever you feel like talking,” Adam told his father. Michael told Drew his answer was no because he couldn’t join his vendetta in order to regain his trust. Drew told Michael that declining his offer proved he was the right CEO for Aurora. Drew tore up Michael’s resignation letter. Portia told Curtis she wanted Spencer out of Trina’s life because he brought trouble. But she didn’t want it to happen like this. Laura told Trina to take as much time as she needed then walked away. To Austin Jay’s song Things You’ll Never Know, we got a montage of Trina and Spencer moments. “This isn’t goodbye Spencer. Somehow. Someway” Trina said. We saw Spencer’s turtledove on shore.

Friday

Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) welcomed Laura (Genie Francis) home. Laura cried about Nikolas (Adam Huss), Ace and Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) being gone, commenting that her whole family was disappearing. “Who’s after you and Sonny?” Nina (Cynthia Watros) asked Ava (Maura West). Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) took precautions. Carly (Laura Wright) bumped into a mystery man outside Bobbie’s. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) was surprised when Trina (Tabyana Ali) showed up at their dorm, asking why she wasn’t in Paris. “Spencer’s dead,” Trina told Josslyn. Sonny (Maurice Bernard) arrived at Kevin and Laura’s apartment and comforted Laura. Anna and Jordan talked about laying a trap for the arms dealer. Carly apologized to the man, who said his name was John. He told her he used to work there when it was Kelly’s. Leo and Olivia (Lisa LoCierco) arrived. Olivia showed Carly Gemma’s article. Ava told Nina about the shooting on the island. Trina told Josslyn what happened in Paris. Laura confronted Sonny about his attack on Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and told him she had too much violence in her life and wouldn’t take anymore. They heard Cyrus’ voice outside the door. Kevin opened the door. Cyrus asked Sonny to call off his dog (Dex). Laura allowed Cyrus in but broke down when he started quoting the Bible. Nina told Ava she had nothing if she lost Sonny and her grandchildren. Carly reminded Olivia that Nina was the only one who benefitted from keeping Nina’s secret. Trina replayed Spencer’s last moments for Josslyn. Agent John introduced himself to Leo. Jordan met with the arms dealer to get information about who he worked for. Leo and Agent John talked about animals. Olivia tried to explain why she kept the secret. Nina asked Ava to promise she and Sonny would look out for each other. Olivia met Agent John when she found him talking with Leo and learned his son was also on the spectrum. Agent John left Bobbie’s when he got a call. Cyrus apologized for upsetting Laura. He and Sonny left and Cyrus warned Sonny he may have dropped the assault charges but he only got one free pass. Anna came to Jordan’s rescue when things got dicey with the arms dealer. Sonny returned home and told Ava and Nina about Spencer’s death. But he didn’t want to deal with Nina. When FBI agents burst into the room, Anna recognized Agent John Cates aka Jagger. Josslyn called Cameron (William Lipton) to give him the bad news. Laura was surprised when she opened the door and found Nikolas and Ace.
