A weekly column highlighting the Port Charles happenings during the past week on General Hospital. Read below to find out what you missed or to refresh your memory in time for next week.

Monday

Drew (Cameron Mathison) stood by Congressman McConkey’s side as he announced his retirement from Congress. James commented to Cody (Josh Kelly) about having sisters. Congressman McConkey introduced his endorsement for the next representative of New York 28th District “Drew Quartermaine.” Ned (Wally Kurth), Olivia (Lisa LoCierco) and Tracy (Jane Eliott) talked about Drew’s run for Congress and how the spotlight will be on the Quartermaines. Sam (Kelly Monaco), Laura (Genie Francis), Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) talked about Drew’s odds for winning the seat. When Drew and McConkey entered, Drew thanked the Congressman for his support and said he couldn’t have done it with him. “Or her,” McConkey said as Nina (Cynthia Watros) entered. “Who invited her?” Tracy said. Laura told Mac (John J. York) about the legal issue with Heather Webber (Alley Mills). Sam and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) entered the stables as James asked Cody to be his brother. Curtis (Donnell Turner) urged Portia (Brooke Kerr) not to let her get pulled into hypotheticals as she listened to Laura explain to Mac about Heather’s blood poisoning from her hip replacement. Tracy told Drew a Quartermaine would always get her vote and added “Just for the record, my brother Alan would be very very proud of you.” Nina told Sasha how she and Drew were both seeing another side of each other lately. Drew joined Willow in the sunroom. Mac and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) entered the stables. After Felicia left with James, Mac commented on the appeal of Cody’s life and said “If I had two lives, one would look an awful lot like yours.” While everyone went to look at the fireworks, Portia cornered Laura and said she wanted her assurance that Heather would stay in Pentonville. Drew told Willow if he did get elected to Congress, things between them would change. Sasha commented she sensed a vibe between Drew and Nina, who said the thing they had would probably never happen again. Nina assured Sasha if was just a little fling with Drew. Mac told Cody about his life in the Australian Outback. Sam and Dante talked about the effect Drew running for office will have on Scout. Congressman McConkey told Tracy about having Stage 4 lung cancer. Tracy invited him and his wife Hazel over for dinner if he was up to it after the election was over. “Larry, take care of yourself” Tracy said as Congressman McConkey left the Quartermaine mansion. “I’m your son,” Cody blurted as he and Mac watched the fireworks. Portia told Laura she treated Heather with the professionalism her oath required even though at one point Heather’s entire mission in life was to murder her daughter (Trina). Curtis asked Nina and Michael (Chad Duell) whether they’ll be able to work together. Sasha saw Drew and Willow sharing a passionate kiss.

Tuesday

“I’m your son,” Cody (Josh Kelly) blurted. “Am sorry, what did you say?” Mac (John J. York) asked. Laura (Genie Francis) told Portia (Brooke Kerr) her goal was to see justice served. Portia angrily reminded the victims had a right to ask questions. Nina (Cynthia Watros) told Michael (Chad Duell) because of Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMuellen) big heart she felt like she was getting a second chance to make things right. Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) saw Drew and Willow in a passionate kiss. Drew assured Willow they gave into a random impulse. Drew commented in a different world with vastly different circumstances, they might have meant something to someone. Cody explained to Mac about how he lied about the results of the DNA test. A hurt Mac was angry that Cody found out a year ago. And after everything he did to open his heart and family to him, Cody slammed the door in his face. Trina (Tabayna Ali) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) talked about their new apartment while drinking beers. Curtis (Donnell Turner) told Nina and Curtis he wanted to move Aurora forward. Nina told Michael the desire to make peace was motivated by her own self interest. Laura told Portia she had the right along with any other citizen in Port Charles to ask questions. She added if Heather’s case were to be reopened it was up to the courts to decide. Curtis said Nina and Michael shared the same work ethic. Michael told Nina he was willing to put their differences aside. When Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) entered looking for Aiden, Portia commented she was Laura’s backup and was there just in time to take her side. Drew told Willow it didn’t make any sense wondering what might have been as they met the way they should have. Drew chalked it up to drinking, excitement over the election and their close proximity. They both decided it would never happen again. Nina, Curtis and Michael entered. Gio (Gio Mazza) joined Trina and Josslyn at the boat house. Cody told Mac he wanted to be his son and wanted to be a part of his family. “I wanted to tell you. I just didn’t know how” Cody said. Mac told Cody the worst part was he lied to Felicia (Kristina Storms), Maxie (Kristen Storms), Georgie, Bailey Lou and James. He told Cody he didn’t trust him. “You continue this campaign to set Heather free and I promise you the next conversation you and I have, it’s gonna be in public” Portia warned then left the room. Nina and Michael told Drew and Willow how she and Michael decided to put their differences in the past. Drew called it the beginning of a new era with a clean slate. Elizabeth told Laura she understood her point but saw Portia’s view that Heather was a threat because all “Portia sees is the monster who tried to hurt her child.” Elizabeth compared it to how people felt about Franco after the discovery of his brain tumor and that all they saw was the serial killer. Elizabeth gave Laura a hug and told her that her grandchildren were proud of her. Maxie entered the Quartermaine stables looking for James’ riding glove. Cody told Maxie he didn’t think he could continue giving James riding lessons because Mac was furious with him. Cody admitted he’s been lying to all of them for awhile now and is Mac’s son. Gio told Trina and Josslyn about the huge block party that was thrown in Bensonhurst. He added that his mom was from Italy and told him one of her proudest moments was becoming an American citizen and he should never take that for granted. Portia told Curtis she had to go home. She told Drew if he wanted her vote he had to assure Heather Webber stayed in prison no matter what their mayor thought. Felicia came looking for Mac. He told her that Cody confessed in the stables that he was his son. Mac told Felicia he was furious. He called Cody a grifter with an agenda. He commented it took time to be a dad and sadly said he would have found a way to love Cody. Maxie told Cody he wouldn’t be able to get rid of them that easily. Josslyn told Gio about the classic ice truck that served only vanilla and chocolate soft serve in cones. Trina and Josslyn to Gio he can enjoy the view of the country club fireworks. Portia told Curtis as long as Laura was pushing for Heather Webber to go free she was the enemy. Gio told Trina and Josslyn that although he missed home, he needed a change and to branch out. He called Port Charles a perfect fit. Maxie told Cody that running away always made things worse. She told him he needed to stay and give Mac time to process things. Maxie made Cody promise not to leave. “Thank you…you won’t regret it” Maxie said. Cody gave her James’ glove and she left the stables. Nina thanked Drew for building the bridge between her and her daughter. “And I will forever be grateful” Nina told Drew and kissed him. Sasha watched as Willow and Michael kissed.

Wednesday

Having witnessed their kiss, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) was awkward around Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). Maxie (Kristen Storms) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) talked about Cody (Josh Kelly) being Mac’s (John J. York) son. “Cody was lying before, could he be lying now? Why should we believe him when he says Mac is his father?” Felicia asked Maxie. Scott (Kin Shriner) came to see Ava (Maura West) with Diane’s (Carolyn Henessy) countersuit. “Sonny wants sole custody of Avery,” Scott told Ava. Sonny (Maurice Benard) asked Carly (Laura Wright) now that Ava’s moved out whether she’d consider letting Donna spend nights at his place. Just then, Jason (Steve Burton) entered. “One kiss doesn’t have to change anything,” Drew told Willow. Felicia asked Maxie whether she thought Cody could be working an angle. “He can not leave town right after telling Mac he’s his son” Maxie told Felicia. Cody told Sasha that last night he told Mac he’s his son and how Mac was furious with him. Sasha suggested Cody give Mac some time to adjust to the information. Cody told Sasha he felt like garbage and wanted to get out of town. Scott reminded Ava how judges like stability and her living at a hotel didn’t count. Sonny told Carly that Ava had him served and wants sole custody of Avery. He added she could be called in to testify and wanted to know she wouldn’t say he was a bad father. Carly said if there was anyone she’d trash it would be Ava. Sonny asked Jason whether he and his FBI buddy Jagger (Adam Harrington) found anything on him. Sasha asked Cody to promise her he wouldn’t leave town. Ava came to see the pharmacist and told him she wanted to give Sonny placebos until she told him to stop. “We kissed and we both regret it and we agree it won’t happen again” Drew told Willow. He suggested they put it behind them. Sasha came over and told Maxie and Felicia she knew Cody was Mac’s son and how Cody told her months ago. “If you’re mad at Cody, you should be mad at me too,” Sasha said. Before leaving Ava warned the pharmacist “I hope you don’t do anything to make me come back here.” Carly suggested Jason tell Sonny the only reason he was working with Cates was to protect her. Michael (Chad Duell) discussed business with Drew then asked whether Willow seemed off to him. Cody found Willow at the stables. Sasha confessed to switching Cody’s hair sample with hers. Jason told Carly if he told Sonny the truth about Cates using him to go after her for fear Sonny would go after Cates again and kill him. Sonny came to Ava’s hotel room. He said he was taking a page out of her book and turned on the voice recorder on his phone so what he said wouldn’t be misinterpreted. Cody called Willow one of the appealing family members and suggested she campaign for Drew. Maxie and Felicia accepted Sasha’s apology. Sasha said she was only trying to help but in the process only made things worse. “What judge is going to award custody to a notorious mobster who used to run a strip club?” Ava asked Sonny. Maxie and Felicia talked about Mac and Cody sharing the same stubborn gene. “The question is what are we gonna do about it?” Willow told Cody the Quartermaines have made her part of a family. “Especially Michael…he’s given me everything,” Willow said. Michael told Drew if he told him Willow seemed fine to him, he’d stop worrying. Carly told Jason it may not be up to him to keep her out of prison. “I’m not going anywhere,” Sonny told Ava. “Is there a problem here?” John asked when he appeared at the door.

Thursday

Cody (Josh Kelly) was surprised when Felicia (Kristina Wagner) showed up at the Quartermaine stables. She asked him to hear her out and told him not to think about leaving. Maxie (Kristen Storms) thanked Mac (John J. York) for coming by. “Mac, you always forgave me when you messed up. Now you have to forgive Cody” Maxie said. Portia (Brooke Kerr) stopped by the office of the deputy manager and told Jordan (Tanisha Harper) she was gathering signatures to put a measure on the Fall ballot. “I want a recall vote to remove Laura Collins from office. And if it passes, Port Charles will have a new mayor…you” Portia told Jordan. Laura (Genie Francis) came to Pentonville and gave Heather (Alley Mills) a new photo of Ace. Heather told Laura she had a visit from Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Heather told Laura that although she really appreciated her caring about her “I need to stay locked up.” Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) thanked Kristina (Kate Mansi) for stopping by. “Ava is the one responsible for releasing that recording so Ava should be the one to pay” Kristina said. Ava (Maura West) told John (Adam Harrington) she was having trouble getting Sonny (Maurice Benard) to leave and that he threatened her. “And if you don’t believe me you can confiscate Sonny’s phone and listen to the whole conversation.” Sonny said he hadn’t recorded Ava because she had nothing to say. Sonny added he cared about his children and would do anything to protect them. “What about you John…where’s your son?” Sonny asked, then said “To be continued” and left. Felicial told Cody how Mac never had a biological child and was excited when he thought Cody could be his son. And when he lied that he wasn’t his son, Mac was disappointed and it was a crushing blow. Cody assured Felicia it was never about him not wanting to accept a blood connection to Mac. When Allie (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) arrived, Brook Lynn told her and Kristina she was working on setting up an interview for Blaze to respond to the online cancellation and wanted it to be a joint interview with Kristina. When Jordan said that Heather may not be responsible for her actions due to the cobalt poisoning, Portia commented how that sounded like something a politician would say and not the former police commissioner of Port Charles. Ava suggested John stay for a bit and have a drink with her to discourage Sonny from returning. Felicia commented that Cody and Mac were a lot alike. Maxie asked Mac why he was taking a hard line with Cody. Sonny came to see Alexis (Nancy Grahan) and said “All I need to know is will you support me?” Heather said she didn’t want to be put to the test if she was let out she’d commit more crimes. Brook Lynn told Blaze and Kristina the interview was to show people who Blaze really is. “Let’s do it,” Kristina said, “Telling the truth is a lot easier than lying.” Alexis told Sonny she could testify that he loved his daughter but had to tell the truth if they asked her whether she approved of what he did for a living. Cody said he couldn’t say he didn’t want to be a part of the Scorpio-Jones family. Chase (Josh Swickward) brought in a bucket of blackberries he and Violet (Jophelle Love) picked. He and Brook Lynn discussed Violet and how she was adjusting. Cody told Felicia he’s been alone for so long he didn’t know how it felt to be part of a family. Felicia showed Cody a photo of him and James eating hotdogs on the Fourth of July. She told Cody to give his father time. She put her phone down before she left. Maxie told Mac that Cody made a mistake and has changed. But Mac thought Cody had an ulterior motive. Ava told John she had to keep Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) from Sonny and asked whether John, as someone who’s known Sonny for decades, would be willing to make a statement to her attorney Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner). Jordan told Portia the law isn’t just for the people they liked. Brook Lynn told Chase about the interview she’s planning for Blaze and Kristina. Since his bereavement leave ended tomorrow, Chase said he would speak with Anna (Finola Hughes) and Mac about working three days a week. Felicia returned home and told Mac and Felicia she thought she lost her phone. She asked Maxie to call it. Cody picked up but Maxie didn’t answer. When Mac left the room to look for the cellphone, Maxie and Felicia exchanged a look. Kristina came to see her mother and told Sonny and Alexis about the interview. Heather told Laura not to do what she was thinking about doing because she was there for a reason. “This is where I belong,” Heather said. She asked Laura to let her pay for her crimes. “If that’s what you want…okay” Laura said. Portia vowed she wouldn’t sit around and wait for Heather to be released. She added she wondered how Jordan would feel about this conversation if Heather had targeted and murdered Jordan’s son. Then, Portia left Jordan’s office. Kristina asked for Alexis and Sonny’s guidance for dealing with the press. Sonny assured Kristina seeing her name Kristina Cornithos-Davis on screen wouldn’t bring him any negative press and that he was proud of her. Brook Lynn told Chase seeing how he was with Violet made her know she picked the right guy. John assured Ava she wouldn’t have to worry about Sonny much longer because he’d be in prison. “I don’t think you’re gonna have to worry about it for too much longer. Sonny’s gonna be far away from Avery soon enough…behind bars where he belongs if I have anything to say about it” John told Ava. Cody arrived at Maxie’s house to return Felicia’s cellphone.

Friday

Cody (Josh Kelly) told Maxie (Kristen Storms) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) he appreciated what they were trying to facilitate, but Mac (John J. York) knew where to find him if he wanted to talk. He reminded Maxie they were family, he was just the guy who gave her son riding lessons and added it was best they kept it that way. After Cody left, Mac asked Maxie and Felicia what was the point of that humiliating exercise. Michael (Chad Duell) told Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) that Willow (Katelyn MacMuellen) was working late with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Laura (Genie Francis) read an article Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) sent her regarding a man who got cobalt poisoning from an industrial accident. Curtis (Jon Lindstrom) came home to find Trina (Tabyana Ali) arranging the surprise dinner she planned for him and Portia (Brooke Kerr) to celebrate it’s been a year since his shooting and how he overcame the odds. Anna (Finola Hughes) told Jason (Steve Burton) she was going to drop in on Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) for a surprise visit to secure the satellite phone. Jason wanted to be her backup and park two cars down from Valentin’s house. “No, I’m going in it alone this time,” Anna told Jason. Laura told Kevin how Heather (Alley Mills) didn’t want her case reopened. Trina told Curtis she wanted him and her mom to celebrate privately. Sasha questions Michael about how things have been for him with Willow’s new job. He commented that Willow seemed happier. Anna reminded Jason with his security that Valentin would notice if he were there. Jason gave Anna a key to his place for her to meet him back there once he had a phone. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) came over and showed Jason an acceptance letter from The Barcelona Academy of Fine Arts. “Jake’s been accepted into the drawing and painting program.” Anna arrived at Valentin’s house with a bottle of wine. He asked her to stay for dinner. Cody returned to the stables to find Sasha there because she brought him dinner. She told him she had something to tell him but if she told him, she had to swear him to secrecy. Felicia accused Mac of being too proud to forgive Cody. Laura told Kevin she’s made a decision to honor Heather’s request and let it go. Trina arrived to see Laura. “Hi. Sorry to just show up but it’s important” Trina told Laura. Portia returned home to find the romantic setup. Curtis told Portia how Trina set it up. “I hate to admit this but it’s really hard for me to celebrate when I’m worried about the safety of my family,” Portia told Curtis. Jason offered to cover Jake’s tuition and his expenses. Trina gave Laura the stuffed horse that belonged to Ace that she found in her car. While Kevin left to review some cases, Laura and Trina caught up. Portia told Curtis her fear about Laura trying to reopen Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) case. Valentin suggested Anna uncork the wine while he finished dinner. When he went back into the kitchen, Anna put the wine down and headed for his office. But Valentin returned and asked “Can I help you find something?” Anna pretended she had been looking for the wine cork when he handed it to her and went back into the kitchen. “You never turned your back on me, why can’t you do that for Cody?’ Maxie asked Mac. Felicia told Mac they weren’t going to let him turn his back on his only son. Sasha told Cody about walking into the solarium and seeing Drew and Willow kissing. “Please let me do this for Jake. It’s something I can do and you’ve been carrying the load for so long” Jason told Elizabeth then asked “Do you think Jake will be okay with me helping him?” Elizabeth told Jason how she really appreciated the effort he was making. The only problem was “How much I’m going to miss him” Elizabeth said. Laura told Trina how Heather asked her to drop it. “I’m curious though, what do you think should be done about Heather?” Laura asked Trina. Curtis told Portia he went to Pentonville to visit Heather because he had to see for himself. He told Portia after talking with Heather he could see what Laura saw. And from a legal standpoint, maybe Heather didn’t deserve to be behind bars for the rest of her life. Felicia asked Mac how much time he was willing to let his anger cost him now. Cody suggested if the kiss was a one time thing, maybe Sasha should forget she saw it. Curtis told Portia that even if Laura made some effort to clear her, Heather didn’t want to leave prison so he was one hundred percent confident Heather would stay right in that cell where she was for the rest of her days. Elizabeth told Jason it would be up to Jake if he allowed him to pay for Barcelona. Mac told Felicia and Maxie he didn’t have to automatically fall in line if Cody’s circumstances had changed. “Cody can go through what he’s going through. But that has nothing to do with us” Mac said. Trina told Laura she believed Heather should get justice according to the laws of this country because that’s what she’d want anyone to get. Portia decided they’d talk about Heather Webber enough for one night. Curtis put on music and asked Portia to dance. Anna told Valentin she thought about how hard it would be for her if he were to disappear without her. “Then don’t let me,” Valentin said. Then, they started kissing.
